WWE SummerSlam 2022 is over a month away, and the July 2 Money in the Bank pay-per-view is still around the corner.

As such, it could be several more weeks until we get a good idea as to what key matches will be on the SummerSlam 2022 card. The lone confirmed match for the July 30 event is Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar in a Last Man Standing bout for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

But this week's episode of WWE Raw offered a hint on another possible match for SummerSlam, which will run at Nissan Stadium (home of the NFL's Tennessee Titans) in Nashville, Tennessee. On Raw, Omos defeated Riddle to qualify for the men's Money in the Bank ladder match.

After the bout, Seth Rollins came to the ring to taunt and attack Riddle. The latter eventually regained his strength and tried getting back at Rollins, but The Architect gained the upper hand and delivered a Curb Stomp. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Ringside News), Dave Meltzer explained that the developments on Raw this week seem to suggest that Riddle and Rollins will square off at SummerSlam:

"I didn’t think he was going to win, but, I didn’t think that it was going to be, tree slam and then another tree slam, and then Rollins would lay him out and obviously the idea is, with Cody out, that Rollins who is, you know, top heel on the brand, probably is going to be doing a program with Riddle, and there’s nothing wrong with that."

Meltzer added, "so I guess it’s to start a feud for SummerSlam, but you know, you would think that you would get through the pay-per-view with Rollins doing angles with people that are in the match."

The Architect, Omos, Drew McIntyre and Sheamus have all qualified for the men's Money in the Bank ladder match so far. Shinsuke Nakamura and Sami Zayn will square off on this week's episode of WWE SmackDown to determine the fifth entry. As for Riddle, it's anybody's guess what WWE will plan for him at Money in the Bank.

Lacey Evans, Alexa Bliss, Raquel Rodriguez, Liv Morgan and Asuka have all qualified for the women's Money in the Bank ladder match. Shotzi and Aliyah will square off on SmackDown to decide the sixth participant for the match.

WWE Has Been Pushing Riddle With Randy Orton Sidelined

There's reportedly concern within WWE that Randy Orton (sidelind with a back injury) may not wrestle again in 2022. During his absence, WWE has given Riddle a giant singles push. He faced Reigns for the title on this week's episode of SmackDown, which The Tribal Chief won. With Lesnar back to challenge Reigns, a proven main event star like Rollins will suffice as a long-term opponent for Riddle.
