Over the past 20 months, WWE has gone above and beyond to push Roman Reigns to a whole new level.

Reigns is closing in on 600 days as the Universal Champion. The 36-year-old superstar has not been pinned since the Dec. 2019 TLC pay-per-view, when he lost to Baron Corbin in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match. The Tribal Chief outlasted longtime rival Brock Lesnar in the main event of WrestleMania 38 to become the "Undisputed WWE Universal Champion."

At some point, WWE will have to make the tough call in ending Reigns' championship reign and winning streak. But according to a new report, they won't be making that decision any time soon.

WrestlingNews.co was told that "there are still no plans for" Reigns to drop the championship "anytime soon." The report noted that that some in WWE believe The Tribal Chief will continue to be the champion up to WrestleMania 39 next year, with the hope of running a dream match between Reigns and The Rock.

Roman Reigns On Top WrestleMania 38

The report from WrestlingNews.co also noted by then, WWE "would start pushing Reigns as the greatest of all-time." WrestleMania 39 weekend will run on Apr. 2-3 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The Rock has expressed interest in facing his cousin, but nothing is confirmed at this time.

Bruno Sammartino holds the record for the longest WWE Championship reign of all time at 2,803 days. Reigns certainly won't get anywhere close to that, but the bottom line is that his current reign will seemingly continue over the long run. Of course, it's anybody's guess when someone will actually end the streak.

Who's Next For Roman Reigns?

Last week's episode of WWE SmackDown indicated that Shinsuke Nakamura would be Reigns' next challenger. But WWE announced that Drew McIntyre will face Reigns at the upcoming shows in London, England and Paris, France on Apr. 29 and Apr. 30, respectively. So it looks like Nakamura and/or McIntyre will be the next to challenge Reigns.
