The state that just hosted WrestleMania 38 a month ago may hold another marquee WWE pay-per-view next year.

According to a report from Fightful Select (h/t WrestlingInc.com), the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas is the early favorite to host the Royal Rumble 2023 pay-per-view. Of course, nothing has been confirmed, and it could be a while until the company announces the location for the special event.

WWE didn't announe the city and venue of the 2022 Royal Rumble pay-per-view until September. This year's show was held inside The Dome at America's Center in St. Louis, Missouri. In Feb. 2019, WWE announced that Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas would host the 2020 Royal Rumble. The 2021 show was held inside The ThunderDome with no fans in attendance because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Alamodome hosted the 2017 Royal Rumble pay-per-view, which saw Randy Orton last eliminate Roman Reigns to earn his trip to WrestleMania 38. The Alamodome also hosted the 1997 Royal Rumble event, and San Antonio's AT&T Center (home of the NBA's San Antonio Spurs), held the 2007 event.

Royal Rumble 2022 Arena

The state of Texas has hosted five Royal Rumble pay-per-views. Aside from the previously mentioned 1997, 2007, 2017 and 2020 events, the 1989 show was also held in Houston at The Summit (now the Lakewood Church Central Campus).

Arlington's AT&T Stadium (home of the NFL's Dallas Cowboys) hosted WrestleMania 38 weekend last month. The stadium hosted WrestleMania 32 six years earlier.

WrestleMania 39 Is The Only 2023 PPV With A Confirmed Location

It's going to be a while until WWE announces the locations for all of the 2023 pay-per-views. All we know for now is that WrestleMania 39 will take place on the Apr. 1-2 weekend at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. SoFi Stadium is home of the NFL's Los Angeles Rams and Chargers, and it just hosted Super Bowl 56. WrestleMania 39 will mark the fourth straight WrestleMania event that will run for two days.
