Argentina's World Cup woes continued today as they were swept aside by Croatia, losing 3-0 to the European side.

The World Cup currently taking place in Russia is now a week old and so far the tournament has been extremely entertaining. That is partly due to the fact that no team has really made a mark yet, especially the bigger teams. Host side Russia has been by far the most dominant team up until this point, and they were one of the sides that fans expected very little from.

Meanwhile, all the favorites to win the tournament have failed to impress. Five-time World Cup winners Brazil struggled to a 1-1 draw versus Switzerland, and in one of the biggest upsets so far, Mexico managed to pick up a 1-0 win against defending champions Germany. Joachim Low's men will be looking to bounce back when they take on Sweden on Saturday.

The biggest shock of this World Cup at the time of typing this though is the lack of flare and fight that has been shown from Argentina. With the likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, and Gonzalo Higuain in their ranks, the South American side naturally arrived in Russia as one of the favorites to win the whole thing. Two games in though they are yet to win and have picked up just one point.

In fact, the Argentines were positively embarrassed by Croatia on Thursday. A terrible mistake from their goalkeeper Caballero led to Rebic putting Croatia 1-0 up. That truly began Argentina's undoing. Real Madrid's Luka Modric put his side two goals to the good with a beautiful goal, and Ivan Rakitic finished things off in injury time rounding off a historic win for Croatia.

That leaves Argentina in a perilous situation. The other two teams in their group, Iceland and Nigeria, play each other tomorrow and the result of that match will dictate what Argentina need to do in their final group game next week. That match will be against Nigeria, and really no matter what happens tomorrow that final group game needs to be viewed as a must-win for the two-time champions.
