It finally looks as if we know when Brock Lesnar will compete again in WWE, at the Barclays Center next month for SummerSlam.

Brock Lesnar is currently AWOL from WWE and what's worse, he has taken Raw's Universal Championship along with him. The last time Lesnar appeared on WWE television was to defend that title against Roman Reigns inside a steel cage at Greatest Royal Rumble. Since then, WWE's flagship show has been without its major title and is also down one of its biggest stars.

Lesnar's absence has presumably been due to the fact that he wants to return to UFC, a hypothesis that was confirmed last Saturday when he showed up at UFC 226 to challenge the promotion's Heavyweight Champion, Daniel Cormier. That match can't happen until January though, so what will The Beast Incarnate be doing between now and then?

Well, even though he might not want to, it would appear that Lesnar will be back in a WWE ring sooner rather than later. Dave Meltzer reported this week via The Wrestling Observer that The Beast will be back for WWE's second biggest show of the year. Who his opponent will be is unknown at this point, but its assumed that the match will be his last for WWE, at least until his fight with Cormier is out of the way.

Lesnar's absence from WWE has caused quite a few problems. There was initially supposed to be a multi-man match at Extreme Rules this Sunday to decide who would face the Universal Champ next. Those plans were changed, presumably because WWE didn't know when Lesnar would be back at the time. Now that it's all but confirmed that the champ will return at SummerSlam, perhaps Sunday's match between Reigns and Bobby Lashley will be for the number one contendership.

The list of potential opponents in WWE for Lesnar is a short one. The opportunity will likely fall to The Big Dog once again but that would be a mistake on WWE's part. Somehow, some way, Braun Strowman and his Money In The Bank contract needs to be worked into the equation. If SummerSlam ends with Lesnar leaving and Strowman as Universal Champion, it will be a PPV that is remembered for all the right reasons.
