Brock Lesnar Won't Be Fighting Daniel Cormier Anytime Soon

Brock Lesnar may want to step back into the octagon right away but in reality he probably has a little bit of a wait on his hands.

Brock Lesnar made a surprise appearance at UFC 226 on Saturday but reports suggest he won't be fighting any time soon.

Brock Lesnar's popularity among WWE fans is rapidly decreasing. Most expected The Beast Incarnate to drop the Universal Title to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 33 and leave the industry forever, or at least for a while. That didn't happen though, and even though Lesnar remains the World Champion on Raw he has only defended it once more since winning that 'Mania match on April 8, 2018.

If WWE fans weren't feeling annoyed enough at Lesnar for his absence, this past weekend he showed his face at UFC 226. The former UFC Heavyweight Champion hopped into the octagon and effectively challenged Daniel Cormier to a title fight, shoving the champ and going on a foul-mouthed tirade berating DC and the rest of the heavyweight fighters who currently fill UFC's locker room.

With that, it was confirmed that Lesnar will, in fact, return to UFC once again. According to Deadspin writer, David Bixenspan that fight can't happen anytime soon though. Bixenspan reported that The Beast still has six and a half months left of his USADA suspension left to serve since it was frozen when he left the testing pool. Not only that, but he is indefinitely suspended in Nevada because he didn't pay a fine following his UFC 200 drug test failure.

Right now, if anything, Lesnar finally showing his face has only muddied the waters further. It's clear that he would rather be in an octagon than a ring right now but if the above reports are true then that can't happen until early 2019 at the very earliest. If that is indeed the case then for the time being his focus should be on WWE. He owes the fans at least one more match in which he loses the Universal Title the right way.

One of the big questions is why on Earth did WWE re-sign Lesnar if they knew this was on the cards? Apparently, The Beast Incarnate currently has a very lucrative contract courtesy of Vince McMahon, and it seems that contract allows him to do basically whatever he likes. Mr. McMahon went to such extreme lengths to stop the likes of Bret Hart and CM Punk leave with one of his precious titles, yet he has basically let Lesnar walk right out the door with one.
