UFC President Dana White has declared that CM Punk's career in the business is over following his defeat to Mike Jackson at UFC 225 on Saturday night.

The former WWE wrestler came into the bout with a 0-1 record but was unable to even things up despite showing lots of heart and determination in the octagon against his opponent.

Punk was taken to the hospital to get his face scanned after the fight, which did leave him quite bloodied and worse for wear. And White, while claiming to admire the ex-wrestler, noted Punk has about used up all of his chances.

“No, it should be a wrap,” he told reporters after the event (H/T MMA Junkie). “The guy’s 39 years old. We gave him two shots, and he had a lot of heart tonight, and I think he should call it a wrap.”

White also lashed out at Jackson, who he says did not make full use of his opportunity against a big name like CM Punk, also branding him a "goofball" and an "idiot."

“[Punk] got clipped a lot in that fight, and it looked like he was hurt,” he added. “Michael Jackson I’m not happy with. This guy was acting like a goofball tonight. You get this opportunity to fight CM Punk, and you’re doing, like, bolo punches to the body on top. Never looked like he was trying to finish the fight ever. Looked like he could have finished the fight a few times. Never tried.

“I don’t know what that guy did for a living before we gave him the shot, but whatever it was, he needs to go back and do that again. He’s 0-2 as far as I’m concerned.

“I got the sense that he’s a complete f***ing idiot, and I couldn’t wait for that fight to end, and I regretted not putting that fight on Fight Pass. That’s how I felt about that fight.”

Despite the loss, coupled with White's comments, Punk appears to still be in good spirits and took to Twitter to thank Jackson for the fight, claiming he's 1-1 for the week as he made reference to his court victory over WWE doctor Chris Amann.

It is now unclear what Punk will do next, especially given his recent insistence on being done with wrestling.

"I'm done. I'm done. I'm done with professional wrestling," he said last week. "A lot of people like to be mad at me about that. They make fun of me because I lost my first fight, and it's like, that's fine, you're entitled to your opinion. But you do not own me, and I am entitled to do what I want to do, and that's what I'm doing. Wrestling is in the rear-view mirror, I've been trying for five years to put wrestling in the rear-view mirror, and they won't let it go."

Yet with his fighting career seemingly over after losing both of his fights, he could reconsider his options. In any case, it will be interesting to see what direction he decides to take in the wake of the tough disappointment.
