The Orioles have traded Manny Machado.

Around this time ten years ago, the Dodgers made a huge splash before the trade deadline acquiring Manny Rameriez from the Red Sox. Hollywood instantly became Mannywood.

Now, it is happening again as the Orioles traded Manny Machado to the Dodgers on Wednesday afternoon in a move for five prospects in the Dodger's farm system, according to MLB.

The Orioles will receive outfielder Yusniel Diaz, right-hander Dean Kremer, third baseman Ryan Bannon, right-handed reliever Zach Pop and third baseman Breyvic Valera from the Dodgers. This is the unofficial beginning of the Orioles rebuild as the American League East has grown far too strong with both the Red Sox and Yankees at the top of the baseball world once again.

Machado will add just the spark the Dodgers need with their all-star shortstop, Cory Seager, on the disabled list for the rest of the season with a torn ligament in his elbow that required him to get Tommy John surgery.

This season, Machado has put up MVP-caliber numbers as this could be the best season of his young career. In the first half, Machado batted .315, with 24 home runs, 65 RBIs, and had an OPS of .963. All while playing for a below-average team and switching from third base to shortstop at the beginning of the season.

Machado's career-high in home runs is 37 and he will likely surpass that while being surrounded by powerful hitters like Matt Kemp and Cody Bellinger in the Dodgers' lineup.

The Orioles are starting their rebuild correctly by stockpiling a slew of prospects to build around. Baltimore made certain that Diaz was included in the package as he was formerly the Dodgers' number two prospect.

The outfielder hit two home runs in Tuesday night's Future's Game which is 1/3 of the homers he's hit in 2018. Diaz has batted .314 with six home runs, 30 RBIs, and has an OPS of .905 for Double-A Tulsa this season.

Don't expect the Orioles fire sale to end with Machado, however. There are still two weeks left in the month of July and the O's could entice a few contenders by dangling pitcher Zach Britton, first baseman Chris Davis, and outfielders Adam Jones and Mark Trumbo on the trade block.
