While wrestling has deep ties to the genre of rock and roll since the Rock 'N' Wrestling Connection era of WWE, hip-hop has been slowly creeping into the business as the premiere genre. It is now used for just about all the biggest WWE programs and hip-hop culture remains a pool of inspiration for a lot of other wrestling companies. Whether it is small one-off appearances, big performances at events or even wrestling in matches, there have been quite a few rappers that have graced the biggest wrestling federation.

Now that hip-hop has become the dominant music genre, it is indicative of WWE's ability to capitalize on its broad appeal by going as far as to make NXT's theme song a track by rapper Wale in the midst of their rebranding as NXT 2.0. Given the history of some of these great appearances, it is clear that the culture is here to stay and will continue to be a big part of the marketing going forward.

10 Ice-T

This awesome introduction and performance has been unfortunately scrubbed from Peacock/WWE Network, but it was a wholly great representation of the Attitude Era's creative freedom. During WrestleMania 2000, The Godfather made a bombastic entrance in the Southern Californian venue with Ice T by his side, performing his new customized entrance song "Pimping Ain't Easy" while also dressed like a pimp. The theme came from the hip-hop/WWE collaboration album WWF Aggression and the entrance was just a perfect way to get the crowd energized for the show.

9 Run DMC

At WrestleMania 5, the famous trio was given an opportunity to perform in front of the large crowd and perform a special WrestleMania rap. The appearance stands as one of the best musical appearances at WrestleMania, and it was still neat to see the legendary group get the crowd to chant along. The rapper DMC said that the performance was a surprise birthday gift from his manager, who knew he was a big Hulk Hogan fan and the Hulkster was even nice enough to drive DMC to the event. Furthermore, Run DMC would go on to make an alternative version of the D-Generaiton X theme song as part of the aforementioned WWF Aggression album.

8 Lonzo Ball

Lonzo and his father LaVar Ball on Monday Night Raw during a segment with The Miz

Most casual wrestling fans are more likely to know Lonzo Ball as a current NBA player more than a rapper, but the Chicago Bulls guard has also released several projects as a rapper. Although his appearance was largely usurped by his father LaVar and his brother LaMelo as they loudly went off script during their infamous appearance as ambassadors for their Big Baller Brand.

Due to LaMelo's foul language, it is not a surprise to see that this moment is scrubbed from Peacock. Lonzo might not have made the biggest impact, but this segment is quite entertaining and the look on The Miz and Jon Moxley's face adds so much.

7 Fred Durst

Fred Durst is in very exclusive company as one of the few celebrities that have actually made it into one of the official WWE games. Outside that, his song "Rollin'" was a big part of The Undertaker's biker persona in the early 2000s. He and his band Limp Bizkit made a rockin' appearance at WrestleMania 19 when they played the theme live as Taker rode to the ring. Of course, he has not been featured since his infamous "flipping the bird" incident at SummerSlam 2012, but he claims that it wasn't as big of a deal as it seemed to be.

6 Salt-N-Pepa

Even though this hip-hop/r&b duo was largely relegated to one of the worst WrestleManias of all-time, their performance was still notable for how symbolic it was for the tone of the programming. The two rappers posed with Bret Hart backstage, but would go on to play Lawrence Taylor's victory theme "Whatta Man" after he defeated Bam Bam Bigelow in one of the worst WreslteMania main events of all-time in an already abysmal show.

5 MGK

There have been many celebrities that have appeared in WWE, and plenty have even gotten in the ring for some action, but no one has been powerbombed off of a stage like MGK was. The Houston, Texas native has had a few performances at shows like the WrestleMania 28 event, along with Monday Night Raw. It was during his appearance on the show in 2015 when Kevin Owens came out and took offense to MGK's shove, immediately lifting him up for a powerbomb and chucking him off the stage onto an admittedly safe looking table, but it was still an awesome spot.

4 Flo Rida

Flo Rida has long been a bane of the WWE Universe as he was sporadically featured for his pop-centric rap songs on WWE programming for about a half of a decade. While he might not be everyone's cup of tea in terms of musical choice, it cannot be denied that he left a lasting impression. He even got to help The Rock make an entrance at WrestleMania 28 as he performed a couple of his hits before The People's Champion came out.

3 Wale

As noted, Wale has had the unique distinction of getting his song "Down South" used as the official theme of the divisive new era of NXT 2.0. That is not the extent of his history in NXT as he assisted The Street Profits Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins for an entrance back in 2019. Given that Full Sail University was typically a smarky crowd, it was wholesome to see them become alive with the adrenaline-fueled introduction that Wale gave to the tag-team.

2 Snoop Dogg

Now better known for his wild appearance on AEW Dynamite when he gave a diving splash from the top rope to Serpentico, Snoop Dogg has otherwise been a consistent guest on WWE programming. One of the many guest hosts during that infamous era of Monday Night Raw and performer of the new theme song for his actual cousin Sasha Banks, Snoop has been around American pop culture, and WWE is no different. He even once took down Chavo Guerrero on Monday Night Raw, and performed alongside Banks at WrestleMania 32.

1 Bad Bunny

The most recent and frankly impressive performance by any rapper in the history in the business was Bad Bunny's awesome match at WrestleMania 37 against The Miz and John Morrison while tagging with Damian Priest. It was one of the most controversial booking decisions by WWE, but he proved himself as a solid worker that seemed like a natural.

He would even go on to compete in the 2022 Royal Rumble and last longer than half of the other competitors in the match. An international superstar, Bad Bunny has had the best and biggest impact of any other rapper in the company, and the fans can only hope that he comes back for another program soon.
