Raquel Rodriguez was called up to the main roster a short while ago and given a name change. Unlike what has happened to a number of NXT call-ups in recent memory, things appear to be going pretty well for Rodriguez so far. The former NXT Women's Champion had a great match with Ronda Rousey, and with Charlotte Flair out of the picture and Sasha Banks indefinitely suspended, she may well get another shot at The Rowdy One sooner than expected.

The Chingona Bomb

WWE might have to think of a new name for her finisher before that happens though, as some people appear to have misunderstood what the name of it translates to. Rodriguez's impressive one-armed powerbomb has been dubbed the Chingona Bomb. However, when Michael Cole exclaimed that to the world when she used the move on Shotzi last week, his audio dropped out, and it was no accident.

According to Wrestling Observer's Bryan Alvarez (via Inside The Ropes), it seems very likely certain people at Fox misheard the name of the move. The word Chingona is slang in Spanish for a badass woman, hence the name of the move. However, in passing, there's a very real chance someone might hear that word as chinga, which means something very different. Something that cannot be said at that time of day on network television.

Lost In Translation

“I believe the folks at Fox heard Chingona Bomb and thought it was the F**k You Bomb or F**k Your Bomb or something like that. So every time she does this move and the announcers call it, they bleeped it on SmackDown,” Alvarez explained. While there isn't really a direct translation, all you really need to know is the term chinga in Spanish has links to the word f**k in English, hence Cole getting censored on SmackDown last week.

As for WWE's next move when it comes to the name, it really has two options. Either it explains to whoever it was that misheard the name that it actually means something very different and non-offensive, or it acknowledges that the term is one that might have been misunderstood by a lot of Spanish-speaking viewers and changes the name. Hopefully it doesn't scrap the move entirely as it perfectly shows off Rodriguez's power.
