Drew McIntyre spent over a year as the top babyface on Monday Night Raw, but a drastic character change may be on the horizon.

McIntyre can no longer challenge for the WWE Championship as long as Bobby Lashley holds it. The former has since been used in the mid-card scene on Raw, and he's now in a feud with Sheamus.

On this week's episode of Raw, McIntyre lost a singles match to Sheamus, who surprised him with the roll up pin. After the loss, the former WWE Champion proceeded to viciously attack Sheamus, leading some to wonder if McIntyre is about to become a heel again.

A WWE creative team member told Ringside News that "all options are open" in regards to how McIntyre may be used going forward. This keeping him on Raw, moving McIntyre to SmackDown and utilizing him as either a babyface or a heel.

The WWE Draft is reportedly scheduled to take place on Oct. 1 and Oct. 4, so we shouldn't have to wait long to find out where McIntyre will land. Next week's episode of Raw should give us a strong indicator as to whether or not WWE is actually preparing to turn McIntyre into a villain again. Sheamus currently portrays a heel, so a McIntyre character change would most certainly make the former a face.

Something Has To Change

It feels like WWE has exhausted all of its options with McIntyre on the flagship program. He has yet to move to SmackDown since returning to WWE, and it's simply time for the company to give his character a shake-up.

McIntyre could flourish as a top babyface on SmackDown and enter a program with Roman Reigns. Or he could work as a mid-card heel, especially if a large quantity of SmackDown's top stars move over to Raw via the draft. The bottom line is that WWE can't keep using McIntyre as a face on Raw, and it's time to try something else once and for all.
