Professional wrestling is a somewhat unique sport in that age doesn't really play into how long you can wrestle. The odds of you having to hang it up the older you get will increase, of course, but some wrestlers can go on into their 50s and even their 60s before giving it up for good. Sting is 63 right now and still wrestling on a semi-regular basis in AEW.

Ric Flair's In-Ring Return

Ric Flair, the man who put Sting on the map 30 years ago, is about to outdo The Icon. There have been rumors that The Nature Boy was considering a return to the ring for a while now, and Flair himself has now confirmed those rumors to be true. “The Rumors Are True! I’m Going To Walk That Aisle, Style And Profile, One Last Time! July 31st! Nashville, Tennessee! Jim Crockett Promotions,” Flair tweeted in response to a report from ESPN.

The Jim Crockett Promotions brand has been revived, presumably for one night only, and the match will go down at the Nashville Fairgrounds on July 31, 2022. Tickets are available through RicFlairsLastMatch.com, which is a nice touch. If you can't make it to the show, the match, and presumably the entire event, will air live on Fite.

Who Will He Face?

Flair doesn't mention who else will be in the match, but reports suggest it will be a six-person tag in which he teams up with FTR to take on the Rock 'N' Roll Express and a third partner. Flair has been training with Jay Lethal, with the second video of the two of them working together making it out into the wild just a few days ago.

For those not keeping count, Flair is currently 73 years old. He won't be the oldest person to ever compete in the ring once July 31 arrives, but he did almost die just a few years ago. In fact, the 16-time World Champion came so close to death, he claims WWE had a video package ready to go should the worst happen. The match comes more than 14 years after Flair wrestled what was arguably the perfect retirement match against Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania.
