It appears as though the latest installment of the Roman Reigns-Brock Lesnar rivalry is done now.

Reigns defeated Lesnar in the main event of day two for WrestleMania 38 to become the new WWE Unified Champion. Because Lesnar lost his WWE Championship, he's technically entitled to a rematch, per WWE tradition. But Lesnar and Reigns will presumably head into opposite directions and feuds now.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that Lesnar has been" billed for future" WWE pay-per-views, but the WrestleMania bout with Reigns "clearly was the blow-off" of their feud. On top of that, Meltzer noted that Paul Heyman betrayed Lenar before WrestleMania rather than the day of the show. Meltzer noted that if the latter scenario played out, it "would have at least kept the door open to continue things."

For what it's worth, Lesnar is being advertised for the WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view, which will run on May 8 in Providence, Rhode Island. Like last year's show, WrestleMania Backlash will presumably feature several rematches from the WrestleMania 38 card.

Lesnar suplexes Reigns

Several WWE events throughout the month of April are advertising matches between Reigns and Drew McIntyre. The latter looks poised for another main event push following his program with Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss, and there aren't many babyfaces and potential challengers for Reigns over on SmackDown. So it would make sense to begin a Reigns vs. McIntyre program.

But it's anybody's guess where WWE will go with Lesnar from here. He works a part-time schedule but appeared frequently throughout his lengthy program with Reigns. Now that he's being used as a babyface, WWE will have several intriguing options with him.

Reigns vs. Lesnar Needed To End After WrestleMania

WWE has exhausted the Reigns and Lesnar feud, and there simply isn't much more to offer. The smart call is to place both superstars in different programs from here, especially since Lesnar clearly isn't going to go over Reigns.
