WWE Money in the Bank 2022 is just over a month away, but it's reportedly unknown if two of the company's top stars will appear at the show.

Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar headlined WrestleMania 38 back in April. The latter hasn't appeared on television ever since, and Reigns will be working a reduced schedule going forward under his new contract. Neither superstar is currently advertised for Money in the Bank, which will run on July 2 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), Dave Meltzer reported that WWE initially had a Reigns vs. Riddle match planned for Money in the Bank. But according to Meltzer, "everything regarding" The Tribal Chief and Lesnar for MITB "is now said to be up in the air."

Money in the Bank was initially scheduled to take place at Allegiant Stadium (home of the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders) in Paradise, Nevada. But earlier this week, WWE emailed fans to let them know that the event was being moved over to the much smaller MGM Grand Garden Arena, which can hold crowds of slightly over 17,000. Allegiant Stadium, which hosted SummerSlam 2021, has a capacity of 65,000.

Regarding Reigns' future opponents, Meltzer also noted that initial plans had Reigns facing Randy Orton at SummerSlam 2022 on July 30 (at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee) and Drew McIntyre at Clash at the Castle on Sept. 3 (at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales).

No Reigns Or Lesnar For MITB Would Open The Door For Other Stars

WWE has been extremely reliant on both Reigns and Lesnar for marquee pay-per-views for over seven years now. If neither talent competes at Money in the Bank 2022, it would open up opportunities for other superstars to assert themselves as top main eventers. No Reigns or Lesnar would add that much more hype and anticipation to the men's and women's Money in the Bank ladder matches, too.

But we'll just have to wait and see what happens. WWE could easily make a last-minute call of some kind and decide to use both Reigns and Lesnar at Money in the Bank. The company has just over a month to decide.
