Roman Reigns has reached yet another special feat as the Universal Champion.

On Monday, The Tribal Chief became just the second WWE superstar to reach a 400-day reign as the Universal Champion, as noted by Andrew Ravens of WrestlingNews.co. This is the second-longest reign in the title's history, trailing only the 503-day run Brock Lesnar had from Apr. 2, 2017 to Aug. 19, 2018.

Lesnar's record Universal title run, of course, ended at the hands of Reigns in the main event of SummerSlam 2018. The latter's current title reign commenced at the Payback 2020 pay-per-view (Aug. 30), when he defeated Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman in a triple threat match to win the championship.

Reigns has had defeated several marquee main event stars during his run as the title holder, including Kevin Owens, Daniel Bryan, Edge and John Cena. Up next, he will defend the title against Lesnar at the Crown Jewel 2021 pay-per-view which will run at King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Oct. 21.

Roman Reigns SmackDown Ring

WWE has pushed Reigns through the roof since his return at the end of SummerSlam 2020. He has yet to lose cleanly since turning heel and aligning himself with Paul Heyman. In fact, Reigns hasn't been pinned since Dec. 15, 2019 — when he lost to Baron Corbin at the TLC pay-per-view.

If Reigns can hold his title through at least mid-January, he will surpass Lesnar's aforementioned record reign of 503 days. There's obviously a very good chance of that happening, considering how much WWE has protected Reigns over the past year.

Roman Reigns Is On A Historic Run

WWE spent more than three years trying to push Reigns as the top babyface of the company. It didn't work out as hoped, but he has absolutely flourished in every possible way as a heel main eventer and champion. He's simply must-watch TV, and it's really his work as a heel that will cement Reigns' legacy as one of the true all time greats.
