Roman Reigns' victory over Brock Lesnar at WWE SummerSlam 2022 led to The Tribal Chief reaching two new impressive milestones.

Reigns narrowly outlasted Lesnar in a thrilling back-and-forth Last Man Standing bout at SummerSlam, thanks largely to some help from The Usos. The victory over The Beast Incarnate ultimately propeled Reigns to the 700-day mark as the Universal Champion, which is far-and-away the longest in the title belt's six-year history.

On top of that, Twitter account @WrestleOps noted that Reigns has now spent more than 1,000 days combined as a world Champion in his illustrious WWE career.

Reigns is in the midst of his fourth WWE Championship reign and his second Universal Championship reign. He is closing in on the two-year mark as the Universal Champion, having won the title for a second time at the Aug. 30, 2020 Payback pay-per-view. Not only that, but it's been more than two and a half years since Reigns was pinned cleanly (by Baron Corbin at TLC 2019).

Roman Reigns v Brock Lesnar WrestleMania 38 Cropped

Lesnar is among the few realistic candidates who can cleanly defeat Reigns, and yet he's lost three times to The Tribal Chief since returning to WWE at SummerSlam 2021 (at Crown Jewel 2021, WrestleMania 38 and of course SummerSlam). With their feud now over (apparently for good), someone else will have to step up and challenge the longest-reigning Universal Champion in history.

Reigns' Winning Streaks Will Likely Continue For A While

Barring an unexpected cash-in from Theory within the next few weeks, Reigns' impressive winning streak and championship reign will continue for another month. His next scheduled title defense is against Drew McIntyre at the Sept. 3 Clash at the Castle pay-per-view, which will run inside Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

Even if Reigns were to drop the title to McIntyre or Theory, WWE would likely want to protect him from taking a clean loss. But at this point, nobody should be surprised if Reigns remains the champion heading into WrestleMania 39.
