Rousey's first UFC appearance was at UFC 157. She was tasked with defending her belt against top contender Liz Carmouche in the main event. Carmouche was considered the underdog but was a powerful grappler and black belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.

After overcoming adversity early and finding her bearings, Rousey began to control Carmouche and go to work. She secured an armbar finish at 4:49 of round one to defend the UFC women's bantamweight championship and officially introduced herself to UFC fans.

This would be the start of Rousey's dominant title reign.

Rousey's second title defense was against long-time rival Miesha Tate. Rousey had captured Tate's Strikeforce women's bantamweight championship when the two met in 2012. The pair had also just finished coaching against one another on The Ultimate Fighter 18 which further solidified their rivalry.

Rousey quickly turned to her Judo and grappling in round one and landed several hard takedowns on the challenger. Tate continued to pursue the takedown in rounds one and two but would continuously fall victim to Rousey's impeccable Judo throw.

In round three, both competitors showed their prowess by exchanging positional advantages on the ground. However, it was Rousey who eventually secured a perfectly executed armbar that forced Tate to tap. This would be Rousey's most competitive title defense to date.

Up until UFC 170, Rousey was primarily known for her incredible grappling abilities. Many believed that a talented striker could give her trouble if she was unable to get the fight to the ground.

Her third title defense came in the form of Sara McMann, who was known for her powerful wrestling ability. McMann had compiled a 7-0 record and was arguably the strongest challenger Rousey had faced thus far in her career.

Rousey finally met top-ranked contender Cat Zingano at UFC 184. The pair were originally scheduled to coach against one another on TUF, but Zingano withdrew due to injuries. Zingano was an extremely durable competitor with formidable striking and grappling abilities.

The challenger darted at Rousey at the very beginning of round one and found herself trapped under Rousey almost immediately. The champion quickly secured a straight armbar that forced Zingano to instantly tap and signal an end to the bout.

Rousey's performance at UFC 184 showed how easily she was able to take advantage of her opponent's mistakes and quickly secure a dominant position with ease.

At the time, Alexis Davis seemed like a potential threat to Rousey's impressive title reign. She had compiled a five-fight win streak at the expense of women's standouts including Liz Carmouche and Jessica Eye. She was also vastly more experienced as an MMA competitor and had compiled a 16-5 record since 2007.

Within the first 10 seconds of round one, Rousey landed a powerful overhand right that wobbled the challenger. The champion quickly secured a Judo throw that put Davis on her back and Rousey on top. From there, Rousey peppered Davis with powerful right hands over and over until the referee had seen enough and stepped in.

It was one of Rousey's most impressive victories to date and showed off her improved striking.

Rousey's knockout victory over Bethe Correia is not only her most impressive but also her most satisfying. Correia earned a title shot after defeating two of Rousey's teammates in Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszler.

The two immediately exchanged powerful combinations in the center of the octagon in round one. Despite Correia's ability to threaten the champion on the feet, Rousey did not back down and matched the challenger strike for strike.

Rousey eventually forced Correia onto the cage where she unloaded powerful knees and punches. As Correia backed away to avoid additional damage, Rousey unloaded a perfect short right cross that sent Correia face-first to the canvas. Rousey quickly dispatched her rival and delivered a highlight-reel knockout for the ages.
