Sami Zayn did everything but win on Saturday night as he and Roman Reigns put on an incredible show in front of Zayn's hometown fans in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The crowd was hyped for Zayn to potentially upset the Head of the Table and there were multiple moments it looked like he might succeed. Ultimately, a number of ref bumps and interference from Jimmy Uso allowed Reigns to attack with a steel chair, hit a spear and get the win.

Zayn was the ultimate underdog going into this bout. He was clearly the fan favorite and so much so, there were questions heading into this premium live event about what WWE would do if they chose not to give the title to the former Honorary Uce. Fans wanted him to get the chance to headline WrestleMania and felt he'd earned the right to be there. Ultimately, WWE decided that headlining Elimination Chamber was as close as he was going to get.

The match was a masterclass of storytelling and it involved a number of the players in the Bloodline drama. Jimmy Uso interfered, Jey Uso stepped in front of Roman to block Reigns' attack with a chair, and Kevin Owens came to the ring after Zayn ended up losing because of the chair attack and the spear by Reigns that put him down. When the match was over, Roman told Jimmy to attack, and Kevin Owens made the save, clearing the ring so Sami could deliver a Helluva Kick on Reigns to end the show.

WWE Gave The Fans A Show

While Zayn didn't win the match, nor the championship, he did leave having gotten the final shot in on The Head of the Table. That may not be enough to please the fans who wanted Zayn to challenge for the title at the Showcase of the Immortals, this was a close second that showcased just how good Zayn and Reigns are.
