Sammy Guevara can finally add an AEW championship to his resume following his impressive victory over Miro on this week's edition of AEW Dynamite.

"The Spanish God" ended the 141-day reign of "God's Favorite Champion" in the main event, but it was no easy task. The two men put each other through the wringer, and for a large portion of the match, it seemed as though Miro would prevail, just as he had done in each of the eight title defenses in which he has participated since winning the title from Darby Allin on the May 12 edition of Dynamite. But Guevara persevered. It took a tornado DDT, a GTH, and a 630 senton to finally put the brute away, but when all was said and done, Sammy Guevara was the brand new TNT Champion.

It was Miro's recent fodder Fuego Del Sol who presented the title to his best friend, and the two men celebrated in the ring as confetti rained down from the sky. Later in the night, Guevara revealed the name of his first challenger: former NXT star Bobby Fish.

Guevara has been with AEW since the company launched in 2019, and he's still just 28-years-old. It's been obvious for a while that he was destined for great things, but by entrusting him with the TNT Champion, the company is cementing Guevara's status as one of the most exciting young talents in the industry.

Conversely, the defeat won't do Miro any harm. It took three finishers to put the artist formerly known as Rusev away, and he plowed through veterans like Lance Archer and demolished upstarts like Dante Martin during his reign. It may be over, but it's one that will be remembered for years to come.

Fittingly, the title change went down in Rochester, New York -- the hometown of former TNT Champion Brodie Lee, who tragically passed away in December of last year due to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
