According to multiple reports, both Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out of Monday Night Raw tonight, forcing WWE to make a sudden shift and change the main event for the show. It appears Banks didn't like the creative direction for the six-woman match and Naomi supported her tag team partner's decision to leave.

PW Insider first reported the news when they wrote, "The word making the rounds backstage at the taping is that Sasha Banks took issue with some of the planned creative for the original main event, a Raw Six-Pack Challenge to determine Bianca Belair's next challenger at Hell in A Cell." They add, "Banks had a meeting with Vince McMahon and the belief among those we've heard from is that when McMahon didn't choose to change direction on the plans, Banks wouldn't back down on her issues and made the decision to leave the taping."

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful then noted he was making calls to try and confirm reports about the main event for Raw changing and then later reported, "We've confirmed with our sources at Raw that Sasha Banks and Naomi did actually leave tonight. We've got a lot more details coming to FightFul Select," which is the site's paywall service. He then added, "This is more confusing when you see who was scheduled to go over in the match." There is talk going around that Naomi was scheduled to win the match.

It will be interesting to see if there are any consequences suffered by either Banks or Naomi. They are the current Women's Tag Team Champions and the one thing that doesn't go over well in WWE is people simply walking off the show because of a difference in creative. WWE's Corey Graves referenced Sasha Banks and Naomi walking out on tonight's Raw taping, describing them as having "unprofessionally left the arena." That's not a good sign for either woman.

Must Be More To This Story

It's hard to imagine that Banks and Naomi just left without permission as this never goes over well. If they were upset and told to leave and cool off, that might be the only thing that saves them from facing serious consequences if all of this is accurate. And, why be upset if Naomi was supposed to win? Was WWE suggesting they might break up the tag team and that didn't sit well with either woman?

We'll have more details as they become available.
