Whenever a wrestler enters WWE as a second or third-generation star there is instantly a lot of pressure and expectation on them to live up to the hype. This has created some incredible wrestlers over the years, with the likes of Randy Orton and Roman Reigns proving that they can carve their niche and become legends in their own right.

However, that isn't the case for everybody because there are plenty of second and third-generation talents that have unfortunately ended up flopping. Whether this was because of their lack of ability, poor storylines, or bad creativity, many of them end up flopping and not taking the legacy to the next level.

10 Ted DiBiase Jr.

Ted DiBiase Jr. Million Dollar Champ

When Ted DiBiase Jr. first arrived in WWE it seemed like he was going to kick on and have a career similar to his legendary father, the Million Dollar Man. He was instantly pushed as a member of the Legacy faction alongside Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton, which was a great spot for him to be in.

However, after that disbanded, DiBiase Jr. didn't continue working at the top level of the industry. He instantly began to struggle with some forgettable storylines before he made the decision to leave the wrestling business completely, which was a shame as he did have the talent to do a lot more.

9 Humberto Carrillo

Humberto Carrillo

Many fans likely aren't aware of the fact that Humberto Carrillo is a third-generation wrestler because it isn't something that WWE typically brings up. However, that is the case, and it could have led to him being pushed as a top-name star as WWE could have tapped into that.

While he is still under contract and anything can change, Carrillo is not someone that WWE seems to be interested in pushing as a serious name. Unfortunately despite the in-ring ability that he does have, his run with the company has ended up flopping.

8 Renee Dupree

Renee Dupree With Title

Renee Dupree had a few moments in WWE where there were glimpses of real talent and quality, all of which should have come together for a successful career in the company. While he enjoyed some good moments when working in a tag team when it came to his singles career the same cannot be said.

He didn't manage to thrive on his own even though he was a great worker. After leaving WWE Dupree put together some great work on the independent scene, which makes it even more surprising that he ended up flopping on the big stage.

7 Curtis Axel

Curtis Axel Intercontinental Champion Cropped

It can be debated how much of a flop Curtis Axel was because he did enjoy several title runs throughout his time with WWE. However, for the vast majority of his career, he was booked to put people over, which was highlighted by his time as a member of the Social Outcasts faction.

WWE never tapped into the fact he was Mr. Perfect's son, which was a missed opportunity because that was something that could have been interesting to fans. Axel had a lot of charisma which he wasn't able to show, and there's no doubt he could have achieved more.

6 Bo Dallas

Bo Dallas

Bo Dallas falls into the same category as his former B-Team tag partner, because he had some great moments such as being a former NXT Champion, but he should have done so much more. The Bolieve gimmick he created in NXT deserved main roster focus due to how entertaining it was.

While there are consistent reports that he could be making a WWE return, which might lead to him living up to his potential, so far his career has been a letdown in comparison to the talent that fans know he has. However, the majority of that comes down to poor creative decisions by the company rather than Dallas himself.

5 Jesse

Ray-Gordy-1

Jesse will go down in history for his work alongside Festus, and while that tag team was never going to work in the long term there is no denying it showed glimpses that the smaller wrestler could follow in his father's footsteps. A lot of people don't know that Terry Gordy was his father, mainly because it wasn't a pushed fact.

However, if it had been then things could have been very different for him. Jesse had tons of charisma, whether that was on the microphone or during his matches, and he knew how to connect with a crowd. That is the one thing that can't be taught and is why he shouldn't have flopped.

4 Grand Master Sexay

Grand Master Sexay in WWE

Grand Master Sexay brought a completely different character to the ring than his father, Jerry Lawler did, but that doesn't mean he couldn't have lived up to the King. Sexay had a lot of personality and charisma which was seen during his days in Too Cool, which is a faction that remains fondly remembered to this day.

However, he didn't live up to his potential and a big reason for that is down to his personal choices. Issues that existed in his life outside the ring led to his release and stopped him from kicking on to the next level.

3 Shawn Stasiak

Shawn Stasiak as Meat

Shawn Stasiak ended up finding plenty of success outside the wrestling world, but inside the ring, he didn't quite hit the levels that his in-ring ability could have allowed. He was a talented worker, but the gimmicks he had, particularly his run as Meat, stopped him from kicking on.

While he was unlikely to have ever been a headline name, there's no doubt that he could have achieved a lot more than he ended up doing during his time in WWE because of poor creativity.

2 Camacho

Camacho vs Adam Rose NXT Takeover

As the son of the legendary Haku, WWE should have been pushing Camacho as a hard-hitting wrestler that wasn't to be messed with because his father is one of the most feared names in wrestling history. However, that wasn't to be, and he got saddled with a gimmick that was hard to make work.

Fans who only watched him operate in WWE likely see him as a flop, but those who followed his career would know just how talented he is as Tanga Loa. In New Japan Pro-Wrestling his tag team (The Guerrillas Of Destiny) has been one of the greatest, proving things could have worked in WWE.

1 DH Smith

DH Smith making his WWE entrance

DH Smith is someone who should have had a great career in WWE due to his look and in-ring ability, yet outside his work with Tyson Kidd, his time with the company was a flop. That was summed up best during his second run where he was hired, competed in a dark match, and then never appeared again.

Anybody who has followed Smith's career would be aware of how talented he is, blending MMA with hard-hitting wrestling to create some great matches. However, his best work has all taken place outside the company where his father made his name.
