UPDATE: WWE has released a statement regarding the incident described below. The statement reads as follows:

“WWE takes the safety of its performers very seriously. The individual who attacked Seth Rollins has been turned over to the NYPD and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Seth Rollins was tackled from behind by a fan during this week's edition of Monday Night Raw.

The incident occurred at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, New York on Monday, November 22 -- the night after 2021's Survivor Series pay-per-view.

Rollins made his way to the ring to address the WWE Universe regarding the events of the previous night, during which he was the sole survivor of the men's inter-brand five-on-five traditional Survivor Series elimination match. Rollins bragged about winning the match by himself and dragged every one of his teammates through the mud. He said that Kevin Owens showed his true colors by getting intentionally counted out, and added that Austin Theory wasn't good enough to get the job done. The main target of Seth's ire, however, was Finn Balor, with whom he was scheduled to go one-on-one.

Balor made his way to the ring for the match, but Rollins ambushed him during his entrance. Balor fought back and the two men brawled until Rollins gained the upper hand once again. Rollins tossed Balor over the barricade and into the announce table. He then hit the Irishman with the steel steps and dragged him into the ring. Rollins then delivered a devastating stomp to Balor, and made his way back up the ramp ... and that's when things got real ugly.

As Rollins was walking up the ramp, he was attacked from behind by an unknown assailant. The initial stages of the attack were caught on the live broadcast, but the show quickly went to a commercial break.

Fan footage of the incident shows the fan jumping on Rollins and tussling with the WWE Superstar for a few moments before WWE officials and security guards intervene and dragged the assailant away. A later video showed the fan being marched up the stairs by security before presumably being ejected from the venue and/or taken into custody.

Thankfully, Rollins seems to have escaped the incident unharmed.

Later in the show, Rollins poked fun of the incident when he made his way to the ring to watch the main event from ringside.
