It's officially SummerSlam week, and at the time of typing this, WWE's biggest party of the summer is just two days away. Unfortunately, a sizable spanner was thrown into the SummerSlam works on Wednesday when WWE announced Riddle will not be able to compete on the show this Saturday. That means the match between Riddle and Seth Rollins is now off, or postponed until a later date.

Seth Rollins Set To Miss SummerSlam

Whether Riddle's injury is a legitimate one or not is still up for debate. Some believe it's all in storyline so Riddle versus Rollins can be saved for Clash at the Castle. Either way, it's a shame what could have potentially been match of the night now won't happen at SummerSlam. What's even worse is as of right now, Rollins hasn't been given a replacement opponent.

The first thing fans did was theorize on who The Architect might face instead. Well, at no point has WWE even hinted that Rollins will now compete against somebody else this weekend. If that is the case, and Rollins will indeed be missing from Saturday's proceedings, it will be the first time he hasn't competed at SummerSlam since 2013.

Seth Rollins Is Mr. SummerSlam

Rollins competed at SummerSlam for the very first time in his career in 2014, beating Dean Ambrose in a Lumberjack Match. Since then he has competed at every single SummerSlam in some pretty iconic matches. A clash with John Cena for the WWE and US Titles in 2015, the match to crown the first-ever Universal Champion the year after that, right up to his loss against Edge at SummerSlam last year.

Rollins actually has a claim to the title of Mr. SummerSlam. Those two matches against Edge and Finn Balor mentioned above are the only occasions he has ever lost on the show, winning the other six matches he's competed in. That's quite the record, and hopefully he is afforded the opportunity to build on that record this Saturday, but time is running out.
