Bronson Reed has opened up about his WWE release, revealing what Shawn Michaels said to him right after he was let go.

WWE has released a lot of wrestlers this year, some of which have come as big surprises to a lot of people. Wishing Bronson Reed well in his future endeavors might have been the most shocking release of all, at least from NXT. The Australian star was seemingly being prepped for a main roster call-up, even dropping the North American Title after a relatively short and uneventful reign.

A Text From HBK

Reed even fits what is apparently Vince McMahon's new mantra for NXT talent he sees a future for on the main roster. A big, talented wrestler with a lot of years ahead of him. Nevertheless, Reed was let go, and thanks to his 30-day NXT non-compete clause, he is already eyeing up where he might show up next.

As for the day he got released, Reed and his fans weren't the only ones shocked by the decision. Reed appeared on Busted Open Radio recently and discussed a text conversation he had with Shawn Michales right after he was let go. “He actually texted me, very shocked, and said, ‘You have to show them that it was a mistake. Keep working. It was not something we saw coming,',” Reed revealed.

Confirmation NXT Bosses Had No Idea

Reed's revelation appears to confirm that higher-ups in NXT weren't consulted on who was going to be let go from NXT during WWE's most recent batch of releases. Michaels is, or at least was, NXT's number two behind Triple H. HBK has reportedly been overseeing the show in The Game's absence as the WWE COO recovers from heart surgery.

That message from Michaels likely gave Reed a boost at what would have been a low point in his career. The former North American Champion even revealed that the week prior, he and HBK had been discussing where his angles would be going next. Further proof that even those in charge of the show were blindsided by Reed being let go. The Aussie has said he is talking with major promotions right now, so could be back on TV before you know it.
