It appears Shawn Michaels is moving up in the world of WWE. On the heels of Vince McMahon announcing his retirement, Triple H taking over as Head of Creative and Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan becoming CO-CEOs of WWE, Shawn Michaels has now been given the title of WWE Vice President of Talent Development Creative.

Michaels is an instrumental part of the success of NXT these days. He started working with Triple H in black and gold and took over when The Game needed to step away for health-related reasons. Now that Triple H is back and has a much larger role in WWE, Michaels has been left to lead the charge in NXT and confirmed that Vince and Bruce Pritchard had little-to-no input as to what was going on with that brand. He's clearly done an effective enough job that Triple H trusts him to take on a larger role and as such, promoted him.

Michaels started helping at the Performance Center in late 2016 after he retired from in-ring competition. Not feeling as though he wanted to step back into the wrestling industry full time, he dipped his toes in. He quickly realized how much he missed it and became a trainer. In 2018, he started working as a writer and producer for the NXT brand alongside Triple H, who oversaw the creative of the brand. He's been talking on more responsibility ever since.

Michaels and Triple H Focused On Talent Training

Michaels is also extremely close with Triple H. The two have a storied history and there are few people Triple H can trust to help get the vision of his roster over. There have been talks that he and Michaels are working diligently to ensure cohesion between the two brands and that continuity becomes a big part of talent moving from NXT to the main roster. His promotion sounds like it's all part of that larger plan.
