England needed the 3 points on Friday to be sure they're on their way to the final tournament of Euro 2016. And in the qualification Group E, possibly the easiest of them all in this campaign, a match against Lithuania was no problem at all.
But what was more important than the result itself, which was foreseeable, was every Englishman's new favorite player's debut. Harry Kane has been sensational lately at Tottenham, scoring 19 goals in 26 appearances so far this season and Roy Hodgson had to do the right thing. The 21-year-old was offered his first cap in the 72nd minute of the game. But what made this fantastic is the fact that he entered like no other and scored after just 80 seconds on his very first ever appearance for England.
Now halfway through the qualification campaign England has 5 victories out of 5 possible. But in a group where the only real threat could have been Switzerland, what's more important after this 5th victory is the promise of a bright international future for the new British star.
