AEW has gone to the well of this moment maybe too often now, but the result always delivers. Tony Schiavone signing with AEW in the early stages gave fans another chance to remember just how much the WCW commentator meant to their childhood.

The infamous call of “It’s Sting!” by Schiavone was used every week for a while when Sting joined AEW. It was genuinely fun to see a legendary call done again and become part of Sting’s act. The only equivalent to this would be Jim Ross getting to call more Steve Austin matches, which is unlikely.

AEW hit a home run during a special episode of Dynamite that featured Sting, Darby Allin and CM Punk forming an all-star face team. The heel opponents of MJF and FTR made it feel like an old school match, with the faces leaning into that.

Punk wore face paint to honor Sting, and it was well-received by the fans. Sting returned the favor by having his paint done in a CM Punk theme. Darby even got in on the fun by using an old color scheme of Sting for his face paint. The faces won and stood tall with a cool visual that showed how fun wrestling can be.
