Early Life

Alexis Kaufman was born in Columbus, Ohio, to two teenage parents. From an early age, Alexis was heavily involved in athletics, including track and field, softball, and gymnastics. When she was 15 years old, Alexis battled a life-threatening eating disorder. Fitness competitions fortunately turned her health around and helped Alexis overcome her struggles.

NXT Debut

Alexis signed with WWE in May 2013 with no prior pro wrestling experience. She made her NXT debut on the July 24 episode of NXT, wherein she confronted and congratulated the current (and inaugural) NXT women’s champion, Paige. Soon after, she was added to the WWE roster page under the ring name Alexa Bliss.

Bliss allied with Buddy Murphy and Wesley Blake, the current NXT tag team champions. She would accompany them to their matches, often interfering on their behalf, and they in turn watched her matches at ringside.

In the fall of 2015, Alexa started a feud with Bayley, the current NXT women's champion. This would be the first of many encounters between the two women, who went on to become two of WWE’s biggest stars. Alexa was unsuccessful in capturing the title but underwent significant character development that helped mold the goddess WWE fans know and love.

Main Roster Career

On July 19, Alexa was drafted to Smackdown as part of the 2016 WWE draft. She made her main roster debut a week later. Her first major feud was against Becky Lynch, who at this point was still using her Lasskicker persona.

On December 4, 2016, Alexa defeated Becky at TLC in a tables match to become Smackdown women’s champion. This would mark her first title win in her pro wrestling career. Alexa held the title until the following February when she dropped the championship to Naomi.

In April 2017, Alexa was drafted to Monday Night Raw. She would then enter a feud with an old rival of hers, Bayley, for the Raw women’s championship. Bliss defeated Bayley for the title on April 30 at WWE Payback. Bliss enjoyed a dominant reign as raw women’s champion and established herself as a top star in the women’s division.

Even after dropping the title, Alexa remained a prominent star in the division. She won the 2018 money in the bank ladder match and cashed in the same night, defeating Nia Jax and regaining the Raw women’s championship. She lost the title to Ronda Rousey two months later.

Alliance With Bray Wyatt

After suffering from some long-term injuries, Alexa Bliss spent some time as a tag team competitor. She and her partner, Nikki Cross, became a fan-favorite team thanks to their comedic clash of personalities. They managed to capture the WWE women’s tag team championships together on August 5, dethroning the IIconics.

In the summer of 2020, Alexa became involved in the feud between Braun Strowman and the Fiend Bray Wyatt. Over the next several weeks, the fiend would corrupt Alexa’s mind and transform her into a horror movie-esque heel. When she and the Fiend eventually parted ways, Alexa kept her spooky aesthetic as a solo act. It was during this era that Bliss introduced the infamous Lilly doll.

Babyface Run

Gradually, Alexa started to show some more “normal” personality traits. This time around, she was much nicer than the previous iterations of her character. She became friends with other babyfaces, namely Bianca Belair and Asuka. She held onto her Lilly doll but assumed more of a pop-punk aesthetic.

In May 2023, Alexa revealed that she is expecting her first child. She has understandably been taking some time away from the ring.
