Early Life And Career

Rebecca Quin was born on January 30, 1987, in Limerick, Ireland. She began training to be a professional wrestler alongside her brother in June 2002 at a school run by Fergal Devitt (better known as Finn Balor). Quin made her debut on November 11, 2002, under the ring name Rebecca Knox.

For the next decade, Knox wrestled across independent promotions in England, France, Canada, Japan, and the United States. Unfortunately, a head injury sustained in 2006 forced her to take a six-year hiatus from pro wrestling, but she was able to get back to the ring.

Becky Lynch Comes To NXT

Quin signed a developmental deal with WWE in April 2013 and made her televised debut the following June under the ring name Becky Lynch. It was in NXT that Becky first crossed paths with Bayley, Charlotte Flair, and Sasha Banks, three women who would be greatly influential on each other’s careers.

Though Becky was unable to capture the NXT Women’s Championship during her initial NXT run, she proved herself to be a very solid performer and became a fan favorite. Her likability would prove to be a major asset to Becky once she moved to the main roster.

The Rise Of The Man

Becky made her main roster debut on July 13, 2015, during an episode of Raw. She became part of the Women’s Revolution, a movement that advocated for better treatment of the WWE women’s division. Her feud with her once-friend Charlotte Flair added a lot of momentum to the revolution and helped propel both women to the main event scene.

On September 11, 2016, Becky became the inaugural Smackdown Women’s Champion. She would go on to hold the title for 84 days and dropped it to Alexa Bliss at TLC.

In the Summer of 2018, Becky was on an impressive winning streak. WWE tried to use this momentum to turn her heel on her friend Charlotte Flair, but the fans stood firmly behind Becky and forced WWE to change their plans.

Becky soon became one of the most popular babyfaces in WWE, and dubbed herself “The Man.” The gimmick caught fire and propelled her to levels of stardom few women had been able to achieve previously.

The peak of The Man arguably came at Wrestlemania 35, where Lynch defeated Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey in a threeway match to become Raw and Smackdown Women’s Champion. She consequently earned the nickname “Becky Two Belts.”

While Becky lost the Smackdown Women’s Championship to Flair a few months later, Becky enjoyed a record-breaking reign with the Raw Women’s Championship. She relinquished the title to Asuka on May 11, 2020, after revealing that she was pregnant with her first child.

Big Time Becks

Becky made her return to the ring at SummerSlam 2021 and shocked the wrestling world when she turned heel and defeated Bianca Belair for the Smackdown Women’s Championship. She then entered a feud with Bianca, during which she dubbed herself “Big Time Becks.” The feud culminated at Wrestlemania 38 and resulted in a loss for Becky.

Since then, Becky has once again turned face. She has aligned herself with former rival Bianca Belair and held the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships with Lita. On September 12, 2023, Becky Lynch defeated Tiffany Stratton for the NXT Women’s Championship.
