Early Life

Saraya Jade Bevis was born in Norwich, England, on August 17, 1992. She is the daughter of two professional wrestlers, Julia Hamer-Bevis (Saraya Knight) and Patrick Bevis (Ricky Knight). Her family runs the Norwich-based promotion, World Association of Wrestling, while her mother also runs the women’s promotion Bellatrix Female Warriors.

Saraya grew up with a fear of wrestling due to the injuries sustained by her family over the course of their wrestling careers. Nevertheless, Saraya found herself sucked into the family business when she was 13 and her father asked her to substitute for an absent wrestler during a show. Soon after, Saraya began competing across Europe in numerous independent promotions. By 2011, Saraya had made her American debut and was well on her way to becoming a global star.

NXT Career

In September 2011, Saraya signed a contract with WWE and was assigned to train in its developmental territory, Florida Championship Wrestling. Her ring name was changed to Paige ahead of her televised debut on February 26, 2012.

When FCW was rebranded into NXT, Paige was positioned as one of the brand’s top stars. She entered a tournament to crown the inaugural NXT Women’s Championship in the Summer of 2013; on July 24, 2013, Paige won said tournament and officially cemented her place in WWE’s history books.

Divas Championship Reign

Paige made her surprise debut on the main roster on the April 7, 2014, episode of Raw. She was still holding the NXT Women’s Championship at this time. Paige came to the ring to congratulate AJ Lee on her successful defense of her Divas Championship the night before at WrestleMania XXX.

AJ was insulted by the gesture and challenged Paige to an impromptu match, which Paige won. The victory made Page the youngest Divas Champion at just 21 years old. Paige then relinquished her NXT Women’s Championship and focused on her main roster career.

In 2015, Paige aided in the success of the Women’s Revolution. She helped elevate Becky Lynch and Charlotte and continued to prove herself in the ring. Unfortunately, Paige’s career would soon be cut short.

Injuries & Retirement

On August 3, 2016, Paige’s mother announced that Paige was currently on hiatus due to a neck injury. She consequently underwent surgery and returned to the ring in September 2017. Unfortunately, Paige suffered another injury at a house show on December 27, 2017. Paige continued to appear on television, but no longer competed in the ring.

On April 9, 2018, Paige officially retired from in-ring action due to her insurmountable neck injury. She then began to work as the SmackDown General Manager, and later as the manager for the tag team, the Kabuki Warriors.

On June 10, 2022, Paige announced that she would be departing from WWE after over a decade with the company.

All Elite Wrestling

Saraya made her surprise AEW debut at Grand Slam on September 21, 2022. Soon after, she announced that she had been cleared to return to the ring, leading to her first match since 2017 against Britt Baker.

In early 2023, Saraya turned heel and teamed up with Toni Storm and Ruby Soho to form The Outcasts. Then, on August 27, Saray won a four-way match against Hikaru Shida, Britt Baker, and Toni Storm to become the AEW Women’s World Champion. She lost the title 44 days later to the previous champion, Hikaru Shida.
