Early Life

Patricia Anne Stratigeas was born on December 18, 1975, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She has been a fan of professional wrestling her entire life and cites Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage as two of her favorites.

Trish studied at York University with the intent of becoming a doctor but wound up in the world of fitness modeling. She appeared on the May 1998 cover of MuscleMag International and found more success soon after. At the same time, Trish worked as a co-host for Live Audio Wrestling on Toronto Sports Radio. In 1999, Trish caught the attention of higher-ups in WWE, who soon offered her a multi-year contract with the company.

WWE Debut

Stratigeas made her WWE debut on March 19, 2000, under the ring name Trish Stratus. She worked as the heel manager for the tag team of Test and Prince Albert, T & A. She made her in-ring debut in a trios match alongside Test and Albert against The Hardy Boyz and Lita.

In Spring 2001, Trish Stratus turned face and began competing in the women’s division. At that year’s Survivor Series, Trish won a six-pack challenge to become WWE Women’s Champion for the first time in her career.

Women’s Championship Reigns

Over the course of the next five years, Stratus would go on to win the WWE Women’s Championship seven times. She defeated numerous rivals, many of whom were pioneers in their own right, including Jazz, Molly Holly, and Lita.

In the Summer of 2006, Trish revealed that she would be retiring at the upcoming PPV, Unforgiven. The show was fittingly held in her hometown of Toronto. Trish defeated Lita by making her submit with a Sharpshooter and consequently became Women’s Champion for the seventh time in her career. Trish retired as champion and vacated the title.

First Retirement

Following her retirement, Trish’s impact continued to be deeply felt in the WWE. She helped pave the way for up-and-coming female superstars and inspired them to reach heights that were once thought unimaginable.

Stratus continued to make sporadic appearances for WWE. She and Lita made an appearance at Raw’s 15th Anniversary Special, where they attacked Jillian Hall. Stratus also worked as a trainer for season 5 of WWE Tough Enough.

In 2013, Stratus was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. She inducted her long-term rival and real-life friend Lita into the WWE Hall of Fame the following year. Stratus also competed in the inaugural Women’s Royal Rumble in 2018, entering at the number 30 spot.

WWE Return

In early 2023, Stratus became a full-time performer for WWE for the first time since 2006. On February 27, she came to the aid of Becky Lynch and Lita, helping them defeat Damage CTRL for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Trish then joined Becky and Lita in a trios match against Damage CTRL at WrestleMania 39.

On the April 10, 2023, episode of Raw, Trish betrayed Becky and turned heel for the first time since 2005. She then found a follower in Zoey Stark, who helped her in her consequent feud with Becky. At Payback 2023, Trish lost to Becky Lynch in her first steel cage match.
