Former Reina de Reinas Champion Taya Valkyrie will return to AAA for the first time since January of 2020.

Valkyrie's imminent AAA return was confirmed during a vignette that aired during the promotion's TripleMania Regia 2 event on December 4. In the vignette, Valkyrie called out current Reina de Reinas Champion Deonna Purrazzo.

"Deonna, you have something that belongs to me," Valkyrie said, referring to the Reina de Reinas Championship that Valkyrie vacated back in February when she signed with WWE. Valkyrie is a former three-time Reina de Reinas Champion and holds the record for the most combined days as champ. Purrazzo and Valkyrie last shared a ring at Impact Wrestling's Hard To Kill event in January of this year.

Taya signed with WWE in February. She and several of her now-former co-workers were released by WWE on Thursday, November 4 allegedly due to budget cuts necessitated by the Covid-19 pandemic (although as we reported, WWE generated $256 Million in revenue this quarter).

In the aftermath of her WWE release, Valkyrie issued a statement and expressed disappointment with unnamed acquaintances who lied to her during her tenure with the company.

"I’ll say the hardest thing for me to process after being released, is realizing the amount of ppl that lied to me. Some of ya’ll should be ashamed," Valkyrie tweeted on November 2, two days after her release.

Deonna Purrazzo won the Reina de Reinas Championship from Faby Apache at Triplemania XXIX back in August. As you might recall, "The Virtuosa" was released by WWE along with nearly two dozen other wrestlers and producers in April of 2020.

Since parting ways with WWE, Purrazzo has spoken of her frustrations with the WWE system.

"I was kind of just like, "I've asked, for 18 months now, how I can be TV-ready and I'm finally getting an opportunity to be on TV and I'm not ready? That's on you, that's not on me. I am ready! You're just choosing me not to be," she told Sportskeeda a few weeks after being released.
