7 Their First Meeting
The Miz and Maryse met for the first time during the 2006 WWE Diva Search. The Miz acted as the host for the tournament, and Maryse was a contestant. She made it into the final cut of eight finalists and made her first appearance on WWE TV on the July 10, 2006, episode of Raw.
The Miz didn't start the tournament on a high note as he stammered on his lines and mispronounced the names of the contestants on multiple occasions. He even forgot the voting phone number while explaining the voting procedure, an instance which the fans use to take a shot at The Miz even today.
Maryse got eliminated as the second contestant on the July 24, 2006, episode of Raw but still landed a WWE contract in August 2007.
6 How The Miz Overcame A Bad First Impression
The Miz made a very bad first impression when he met Maryse for the first time during the 2006 WWE Diva Search. He apparently made fun of her for not being able to speak English. He asked her how she expected to compete in a global promotion if she couldn't utter a single word in English.
The Miz tried to make it up to Maryse when the two worked together for a brief time in 2009 when Miz was trying to get Maryse's attention on various backstage segments.
Miz tried to learn French, but that didn't go as planned, as he accidentally said he was gay during a conversation. They were able to laugh it off, and it planted the seeds for their future relationship.
5 Their Engagement
Every woman would expect their boyfriends to make a romantic marriage proposal, and The Miz knew exactly how and where to pop the question to Maryse.
Maryse revealed that The Miz took her to the Ritz-Carlton in Los Angeles in February 2013 and took her to the same room where they met for the first time during the 2006 Diva Search.
He got on one knee and proposed to Maryse, and she couldn't help but say yes. Maryse added that Miz did a good job in keeping the proposal a secret and that it brought her back a lot of memories as the Diva Search was a defining moment in her career.
4 Their Wedding
The Miz and Maryse got married in the Bahamas on February 20, 2014. Maryse was not part of WWE during the wedding as she got released from her contract in October 2011.
The wedding took place at the One and Only Ocean Club in the Bahamas, with over 90 guests in attendance. Among those who attended the wedding were WWE superstars including, John Morrison, Zack Ryder, Dolph Ziggler, Kelly Kelly, Eve Torres, Justin Roberts, and Alex Riley.
The Miz's friend and singer-songwriter Ryan Cabrera, who is also the fiancé of WWE's Alexa Bliss, performed at the ceremony.
3 Becoming The "It Couple"
Maryse returned to WWE in 2016 as The Miz's manager. She appeared on the Raw after WrestleMania 32 during the Intercontinental Championship match between The Miz and Zack Ryder and helped her husband win the title for the fifth time.
As time progressed, they established themselves as WWE's "It Couple" and soon had their first match as a team in a mixed tag team match against John Cena and Nikki Bella at WrestleMania 33.
They also feuded against Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella in mid-2018 and even defeated them during the 2018 Hell in a Cell PPV.
2 Their Children
The Miz and Maryse were always vocal about their intention to start a family, and the intention turned into reality in late 2017. They announced they're expecting their first child on the September 11, 2017, episode of Raw.
Their first daughter was born on March 27, 2018, and they named her Monroe Sky Mizanin. The couple revealed they are expecting their second child on the 2019 Elimination Chamber PPV, and their second daughter Madison Jade Mizanin was born on September 20, 2019.
Together, the Mizanin family currently resides in Thousand Oaks, California, where they moved permanently in 2019.
1 Their Non-Wrestling Ventures
Apart from their role as pro-wrestlers, The Miz and Maryse starred in two movies together, with Santa's Little Helper in 2015 and The Marine 5: Battleground in 2017.
They also appeared on the reality television series Total Divas in 2016, which led to her WWE return. Seeing their popularity, WWE announced a spin-off series exclusively for them in Miz & Mrs, which premiered on January 29, 2020.
The show featured the lives of The Miz and Maryse in and out of the wrestling ring. It became such a hit that the USA network renewed the series for a 10-episode 3rd season, which is expected to air in 2022.
