TNA/Impact Wrestling was known for having up and down storylines that didn’t always work out as planned. Any major wrestling company is bound to have those scenarios, but certain wrestlers in TNA would only get known for one single angle. The company planned to use that relevance and success for more, but fate would only see them remembered for that.

Quite a few wrestlers were fighting to get noticed by getting over with the right storyline. Some of the names had one interesting story that couldn’t be followed. Others were just booked poorly and couldn’t contribute anything more. The wrestlers in question are only discussed for a specific storyline in their TNA tenures.

10 Wes Brisco Betraying Kurt Angle For Aces & Eights

Wes Brisco Kurt Angle

TNA tried to make Wes Brisco a star with one noteworthy storyline not going as planned. Brisco’s TNA career is only remembered for the scenario of his heel turn on Kurt Angle to become an official member of the Aces & Eights faction.

Angle introduced Wes and served as his mentor for a few months before the story played out. Brisco united with the rest of Aces & Eights to feud with Angle. TNA even gave Wes a win over the legend as nothing else could follow that.

9 Samuel Shaw Stalking Christy Hemme

Samuel Shaw and Christy Hemme

Samuel Shaw was one of the more twisted TNA characters with a dark side. NXT pushed him as the face version of this persona with the Dexter Lumis character. However, Shaw’s TNA stint is only remembered for one bizarre storyline.

Christy Hemme interviewing Shaw led to him stalking her for months transitioning from odd to downright creepy. Shaw never had another storyline that matched this and it became all fans talk about from his TNA run.

8 Crimson As Amazing Red's Bigger Brother

Crimson

TNA hoping to get Crimson over with an undefeated streak didn’t go as planned, partially due to the lack of storylines he received. Even though Crimson won matches, TNA didn’t give the audience much reason to care about or learn about him.

One silly angle featured Crimson revealed as the bigger brother of X-Division star Amazing Red. TNA pushing Crimson over Amazing Red showed just how ridiculous their creative team was at times. Crimson never got over and was viewed as a failure.

7 Winter Mind-Controlling Angelina Love

Winter Angelina Love

Former WWE and TNA star Katie Lea Burchill aka Winter debuted in TNA with an interesting character. Winter was implied to have mind control powers and utilized them to get Angelina Love’s support and turn her against former friends in The Beautiful People.

Supernatural gimmicks are polarizing in wrestling, but TNA was finding some fan investment in this act. Winter unfortunately lost some of the magic and TNA didn’t book her in many interesting angles afterwards.

6 Judas Mesias Revealed As Abyss' Brother

Judas Mesias with James Mitchell as his manager.

TNA introduced Judas Mesias when looking to come up with a brother character for Abyss. Many fans accused TNA of having Abyss play their version of Kane, and it was hard to argue when they forced a brother vs brother feud.

Mesias was introduced by his and Abyss’ father James Mitchell after Mitchell turned on Abyss. The lackluster storyline was all that Judas really did in his stint. TNA booked him in a few more matches, but this was the only angle anyone remembers.

5 Kazuchika Okada Becoming Samoa Joe's Sidekick

Okato

TNA booking Kazuchika Okada poorly is discussed quite often, but the run is remembered for one abysmal. Samoa Joe was already undergoing bad booking when TNA decided to pair them together based on The Green Hornet/Kato comic characters.

The idea of Joe and Okada being paired up as a bad thing showed just how bad the writing was. Okada adopted the name Okato and played a parody of the Green Hornet sidekick. NJPW was so upset that they ended their working arrangement for years due to how Okada’s time was remembered.

4 Sheik Abdul Bashir Joining World Elite

Shiek Abdul Bashir

Former WWE talent Daivari joined TNA shortly after getting released from the larger company. TNA decided to keep the stale anti-American foreigner heel act going under the new name of Sheik Abdul Bashir in the X-Division.

The World Elite faction merged members of the British Invasion with Daivari and some other foreign heels. Fans never got into Bashir, and he was viewed as one of the worst X-Division Champions. TNA not coming up with better creative doomed Bashir to not have much depth.

3 Taylor Wilde Upsetting Awesome Kong

Taylor Wilde Knockouts Champion

A rare genuinely surprising moment in TNA featured Taylor Wilde upsetting Awesome Kong to become the Knockouts Champion. TNA had an open challenge series with Kong destroying unknown talents trying to get a job by defeating her.

Wilde not only defeated Kong to end that storyline, but she won the top women’s prize in TNA for a huge prize. Even though Taylor looked good in the ring during her push, there was never another storyline as memorable as the win over Kong to have things peak early.

2 Desmond Wolfe Targeting Kurt Angle

Kurt Angle Vs Desmond Wolfe

TNA benefited from some unexpected luck when WWE rescinded a contract offer to free agent Nigel McGuinness. Previous injuries scared WWE away, but TNA took advantage by instantly scooping up Nigel and renaming him Desmond Wolfe.

The first storyline saw Wolfe targeting top face Kurt Angle with physical and verbal attacks. Their first two matches were instant classics to get Wolfe over. Unfortunately, the booking afterwards saw Desmond as an overlooked talent compared to other names.

1 Shark Boy Parodying Steve Austin

Shark Boy

TNA utilized Shark Boy for a few years in various comedic roles, but most fans have one memory of him. Shark Boy underwent a wild gimmick change to leave behind the humorous aquatic gimmick to become a parody of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.

The moniker of Stone Cold Shark Boy was used with him cutting promos doing an impression of Austin. Shark Boy used the storyline for quite some time without any noticeable pay off, but the timing on Spike TV made it all fans remember about him.
