Toni Storm made her AEW debut on the March 30 edition of Dynamite when she was revealed as The Bunny's mystery opponent in an Owen Hart Foundation Women's Tournament Qualifier Match. A few months prior, the 26-year-old Aussie parted ways with WWE via mutual consent. According to Bodyslam.net, a source close to the situation revealed Storm just “up and quit”. In fact, she boarded a plane home, which she paid for herself, right after competing in a triple threat match at a live event.

During a recent chat with the hosts of Busted Open Radio, Storm shared her version of events and explained what motivated her to walk out on WWE.

I guess I just freaked out and went home,” Storm said. “I went two and a half years without going home at all and that’s after a life of like – well, about seven years of being on the road,” she continued. “Like, I left for England. About seven or eight years had passed and I was like, ‘Oh my God!’ And then take into account the amount of negativity that you hear about WWE and then add that on top of it."

The former NXT UK Women's Champion clarified that, though she was overwhelmed, she is grateful for her time in WWE.

And I’m not saying that I had a problem with WWE at all. I’m actually really grateful for the time that I got to have there. I learned so much. And you know what? It was so cool. It was real and it was cool," she reflected. "But in the end, it wasn’t real cool. And something just happened and I left. And it felt – I felt like I was having an out-of-body experience, to be honest."

Storm signed with WWE in 2018 and won the Mae Young Classic later that year at WWE's all-female Evolution pay-per-view. She previously performed on the NXT UK brand where she held the NXT UK Women's Championship. Outside WWE, she was the first-ever Progress Women's Champion among many other impressive accolades.
