Every year since 2006, Ring Of Honor has run events during WrestleMania week in the same city as WWE's annual flagship premium live event ... if ROH's new owner gets his own way, that tradition could be coming to an end.

Tony Khan addressed the practice of companies holding events in the vicinity of WrestleMania during a recent chat with the hosts of Busted Open Radio while he discussed Ring Of Honor's upcoming Supercard of Honor XV event, which will go down on April 1, 2022, at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas -- one day before night one of WrestleMania 38 takes place just a few miles away.

"I know that there are a lot of people that are going to be around the Dallas Metroplex area at that time. And, I’ll be honest, this is my first time going out there for that particular event weekend," TK said. "It’s not normally something I would do, it’s not normally something AEW would do, and in fact, it’s not something AEW would ever do and we’re not doing it."

The AEW president said that the event will go ahead because the wheels were already in motion before his purchase of ROH was finalized.

Because the event had been scheduled in advance by Ring of Honor and the tickets had been sold, I really felt like the right thing to do, do right by the fans here, was to have the show and make it the best show I possibly could," he said. "Even though it’s unusual for us to go frankly into enemy territory and run a show that weekend, it’s normally something associated with smaller wrestling companies and something I didn’t wanna do. And that being said, since it was booked, and the fans were committed to it, I’m gonna go in 100% and make it the best possible thing I can. So, I never expected to be talking about WrestleMania weekend and the logistics of the shows there."

As we covered, AEW President Tony Khan announced his acquisition of ROH in the opening segment of the March 2 edition of AEW Dynamite on TBS. During the post-AEW Revolution media scrum on Sunday, March 6, Khan confirmed that he will be booking Ring Of Honor when the beloved promotion returns from hiatus.
