NBA star Dwight Howard has been seen often around WWE and the company's training center. Just ahead of SummerSlam, he showed up at a WWE Tryout in Nashville, and video clips were past around social media of the eight-time all-star studying and trying to learn as much as he can. It became clear quickly that his showing up at WWE wasn't a publicity stunt. A potential career as a WWE Superstar was something he was seriously thinking about.

This caught the attention of a lot of people, including WWE's Executive Vice President of Talent Relations and Head of Creative Triple H. When asked about Howard's apparent interest in training with WWE and eventually joining the company as an in-ring talent, Triple H responded, "the ball is in his court". Using a phrase synonymous with basketball, Triple H was essentially saying it was time for Howard to prove how badly he wants this.

He noted that he spoke with the larger-than-life basketball star and said he told him that this was about doing what most others don't.. seeing it through. Triple H said, "Dwight, in the conversations we had, was like, 'you know I really want to do this; I'm serious, I really want to do this.' But we hear that a lot. And there's a difference between saying 'I want to do this,' and putting in the grind and doing the work to get there." It sounded as though WWE would only seriously look at this as an option if Howard put in the work and proved he was prepared to see this through, especially once things got rough.

Triple H Is Ready To Take His Call

He also noted that the two exchanged numbers and they know how to reach each other. "All he's got to do is call me and we'll see what can happen," Triple H said. "If he's willing to put in the grind and the drive that guys like Logan Paul, Bad Bunny and Tyson Fury are willing to put in, then let's go!"
