The pro-wrestling fraternity got rattled when the news broke out about 14-time WWE Champion Triple H suffering a cardiac event back in September. The Game underwent surgery, and as per reports, is recovering well.

The Game's legacy goes beyond a WWE ring. He has done everything there is to do as a performer and also as a backstage official. His involvement in making NXT into a third brand for the promotion gave him praise from wrestling personalities and fans alike.

There's only one thing left for The Game to do, and that is to have a proper retirement match. But various reports claim that Triple H's time as an in-ring performer is over after the cardiac event. But if he is to come back for one last match, here are 10 candidates to be his last opponent.

10 Samoa Joe

WWE released Samoa Joe from his contract back in April 2021 as a part of budget cuts. The release made Triple H very unhappy, and he immediately pushed the higher-ups to re-sign Samoa Joe.

His efforts proved to be fruitful, and Joe made his return to NXT and soon after won his third NXT Championship. He is now sidelined with an injury and had to relinquish the NXT Title right before the 2.0 reboot.

Samoa Joe's time as an in-ring performer might be coming to an end soon, considering his history with injuries. If that is the case, he should have one last match against Triple H in which both Superstars can hang up their boots at the same time.

9 Robert Roode

"The Glorious" Robert Roode is one of the Superstars in Triple H's good list. Roode impressed Triple H a lot during his time in NXT and it led to him having an impactful reign with the NXT Championship.

They also had a brief moment during the traditional elimination tag team match at the 2017 Survivor Series PPV. Triple H would not be happy about how Roode is being used in the main roster, and he could take things into his own hands if he decides to have one last match against The Glorious One and give him a much-needed breakthrough in the main roster.

8 Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens has been a Triple H guy right from the start of his WWE career in NXT. He has complemented Triple H's involvement in his career from NXT to the main roster on multiple occasions.

The Game played a major part in Kevin Owens winning the Universal Championship in 2016 and has named Owens as one of the best Superstars in WWE on many occasions. It would be fitting to see a heel Kevin Owens take on Triple H in the latter's retirement match on a grand stage like WrestleMania.

7 Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre is one of the few Triple H guys who are having an impactful run on the main roster. The Scottish Warrior impressed Triple H during his run in NXT and continued the momentum on the main roster by becoming a two-time WWE Champion.

McIntyre is now on the list of top-tier Superstars in WWE and could be an excellent choice to be Triple H's final opponent. If The Game chooses to return for one more dance, there's a Scottish Warrior waiting for him to take on the challenge.

6 AJ Styles

After suffering a major cardiac event, Triple H might not be in the best shape of his life. He might need to put on some work before he could think of getting back in the ring for one last time.

Even then, he might not be able to carry himself throughout a full match like before, and he needs the right opponent who can help him have a great match. And who is better at doing that than AJ Styles?

Styles is one of the safest in-ring workers of all time who also holds the privilege of being the last opponent of The Undertaker. He would love to add to his accolades by being Triple H's final opponent as well.

5 Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins has had a love-hate history with Triple H throughout his WWE career so far. Rollins' singles career began under the wings of Triple H as a part of The Authority storyline, leading to him winning the MITB ladder match and ultimately the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 31.

They've also been fierce rivals battling it out in a non-sanctioned match at WrestleMania 32. The rivalry could be rekindled, and a heel Seth Rollins can go after Triple H and look to retire him in one final match down the road.

4 Randy Orton

If Triple H chooses to end his career on his terms and choose an opponent for his last match, he could choose his old Evolution stablemate and fierce rival Randy Orton.

They had their last one-on-one match at the 2019 Super ShowDown PPV, where The Viper walked out victorious. But the history between the two legendary Superstars can lead to one last match at an even bigger stage with even bigger stakes.

The Legend Killer can add to his legacy by being the one to retire his former mentor and rival in a match on a grand stage like WrestleMania, giving Triple H a proper send-off to a legendary career.

3 Bron Breakker

Bron Breaker WWE

Triple H is one of the main reasons behind NXT growing into the third brand of WWE. The Game took it upon himself to groom the future WWE Superstars and went to great extents to find performers from all over the world.

Most of the Superstars who came up to the main roster from the NXT system went on to win major championships. Hence, it is fitting for The Game to have his last match against an NXT prospect.

Bron Breakker can be the one to get that honor as he is proving himself as a megastar of the future. He has all it takes to become a break-out star for the promotion, and what better way to introduce him to the global WWE fanbase than to have him become Triple H's last opponent.

2 Roman Reigns

Triple H & Roman Reigns

Universal Champion Roman Reigns has a heated history with Triple H, and the two Superstars have had multiple matches in the past. But Reigns is in his prime form in WWE with his current heel Tribal Chief character, and if WWE is looking for someone to retire Triple H, Roman Reigns would be happy to sign up for the job.

It would be interesting to see the roles reversed with Reigns as the heel in a feud with Triple H. With WWE's efforts into making Reigns the greatest of all time, ending Triple H's in-ring career would help the Head of the Table to reach that level.

1 Big E

Big E after winning the WWE Championship

Big E was Vince McMahon's first choice to be a part of The Shield and be the future face of the company. But it was Triple H who convinced McMahon to go with Roman Reigns instead.

Roman Reigns used that opportunity to quickly become the top star of the promotion, while it took Big E a long time to break out as a singles performer. WWE should use this as a storyline to book Big E against Triple H and have the current WWE Champion take on The Game in the latter's retirement match.
