Tonight's episode of NXT opened with a confrontation between NXT Champion Bron Breakker and the new NXT UK Champion, Tyler Bate. The two first came face-to-face last week after Bron Breakker defeated JD McDonaugh to retain his NXT Championship. Fans immediately expected to see a match between the two champions, but the bout wasn't made official until tonight.

Tyler Bate is also in his second reign as NXT UK Champion; he was the inaugural NXT UK Champion in 2016 and recently won the formerly vacant title in a single elimination tournament that bizarrely hasn't finished airing yet.

The Road To Worlds Collide

While the main event is now set for Worlds Collide, the rest of the card remains uncertain. NXT UK roster members Gallus and Blair Davenport are also likely to participate in Worlds Collide; tonight, Gallus faced Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen for the NXT UK Tag Team Championships and Davenport made her NXT 2.0 in-ring debut against Indi Hartwell.

Given the circumstances surrounding this match, it's hard not to believe that Bron Breakker will come out the winner; NXT UK is in its twilight days as WWE plans to shut down the brand and open NXT Europe in its place. Worlds Collide will be a last hurrah of sorts for NXT UK before it stops production indefinitely.

Both Tyler Bate and Bron Breakker both have invaluable experience in the wrestling business, something very impressive considering their ages. Despite being only 25 years old, Tyler Bate has been wrestling for the last 8 years. Breakker, on the other hand, grew up in the business and has inherited much of his father Rick Steiner's athleticism and stage presence. Their match at Worlds Collide is set to be an interesting clash between two of wrestling's most promising rising stars.
