Pat McAfee is going to be wrestling at this year's WrestleMania. While it doesn't appear to be against Vince McMahon -- like some online rumors suggested -- Vince did offer the SmackDown announcer, former NFL punter, and YouTube star a match on the company's biggest show of the year. McAfee was stoked and immediately accepted.

Vince was quite complimentary of McAfee, the work he's been doing on SmackDown, and the audience he's generating for WWE. Saying it's clear the fans like him and that it's obvious McAfee loves doing what he does for a living, the offer almost came off like a reward. Vince is aware that McAfee is a life-long WWE fan, and he's probably right in that McAfee would absolutely soak up the chance to wrestle on the biggest show his now-employer has to offer.

No opponent was named, although it does make sense that perhaps McAfee would face someone like Austin Theory. McMahon and Theory have an on-screen storyline actively happening and the idea behind their relationship is that Theory is constantly trying to impress the boss. Perhaps beating McAfee would do so. If McAfee won, it might change the dynamic of the Theory and McMahon relationship, a shift that could also be interesting.

McAfee Was Stoked

The SmackDown announcer joked about how out of shape he is, but was extremely excited as were the rest of his co-hosts that he was going to get an opportunity to wrestle at WrestleMania. It's not clear if he will also call matches, but the assumption is that he will, at least on one of the two nights.

McAfee has a ring right beside his recording studio and has been training to get back in the ring. He acknowledged that the entire Internet was predicting a match and McAfee was happy that the rumor was true.
