The road to CM Punk and MJF's dog collar match at Revolution has been a pretty incredible one. When the two first clashed verbally a couple of months ago, some fans questioned how AEW would string the rivalry out until the next PPV. Those fans were forgetting just how talented MJF and Punk are. There were a lot of highlights throughout, but none compared to the brutal and bloody match they had on Sunday night.

A Brutal End To A Brutal Rivalry

Those of you who watched Dynamite last week will know Punk was busted open pretty badly just a few days before this match. That meant it didn't take much for MJF to get him to that stage again at Revolution. Punk spent most of the match with a crimson mask, and after he smashed his own knee, wrapped in the chain at the time, into the ring steps, he could also barely walk for a lot of it too.

Add a pile of tacks to the mix onto which Punk went back first, it's a miracle that he managed to even survive this match, let alone win it. That's exactly what happened though, and Punk has Wardlow to thank for that. MJF summoned the man who is presumably his now-former bodyguard, asking for his Dynamite Diamond Ring to help get the job done. When Wardlow arrived, he feigned not being able to find the ring.

The Dynamite Diamond Ring

Punk pulled MJF away from Wardlow, dropped him, at which point Wardlow magically remembered in which pocket he had left the ring. The winner of the Face of the Revolution match then left it on the apron so Punk could pop it on and use it to finish off MJF. A fitting end to the rivalry for now as MJF will likely be gunning for Wardlow once he comes around and realizes what has happened.

The result of this one might surprise a lot of fans. It feels like MJF is inching closer to a match for the AEW Title sometime soon, so you'd have thought he'd have picked up a big win in this one. Apparently not, and if he is about to enter into a program with Wardlow, perhaps Punk will be the one who challenges the winner of the World Title match later tonight.
