WCW had some of the all-time great rivalries between legendary names. The fascinating programs usually featured back and forth moments with each wrestler getting their wins. However, that didn’t always ring true when looking back at the company’s history. There were some rivals to have one-sided programs with one talent winning more often.

The booking protected names that needed to stay dominant or score the big victories. This led to the opposing scenarios of wrestlers on the other side either suffering from it or finding a different way to look good. The story being told for the wrestlers in play featured things never evening it out. Each of the following rivalries was rather one-sided in WCW.

10 Hulk Hogan Vs Randy Savage

The rivalry between Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage restarted in WCW after their WWE run when Hogan formed the New World Order. Savage was one of Hogan’s first targets with various nWo beatdown attacks towards the Macho Man.

WCW almost always booked Hogan to score the big win. Hogan dominated Savage at the Halloween Havoc 1996 event to retain the WCW Championship, and he ended Savage’s reign with the same title after one night in 1998.

9 Kevin Nash Vs Scott Hall

WCW decided to break up The Outsiders when Scott Hall turned on Kevin Nash to join the Hollywood version of the New World Order. Everyone expected Hall to join the Wolfpac as the best friend of Nash, but they entered a feud.

Nash got the better of Hall almost every time in both tag matches and singles bouts. WCW even got controversial by having Hall stumble to the ring drunk and losing his matches to Nash. The rivalry was so one-sided that Hall eventually reunited with Nash after all the losses.

8 Goldberg Vs The Giant

The rise of Goldberg saw him becoming the most unstoppable force in WCW with his undefeated streak. Goldberg had a couple of matches against The Giant after he won the WCW Championship from fellow nWo Hollywood member Hulk Hogan.

WCW booked Goldberg vs Giant to have two of the most dominant talents facing off. Goldberg won all the matches and had the highlight memories of lifting The Giant in the air to hit the Jackhammer in impressive fashion.

7 Ric Flair Vs Lex Luger

The rivalry of Ric Flair and Lex Luger saw them working together in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s in main event matches. Luger did benefit from having a draw and some great in-ring performances against Flair, despite losing in most of their bouts taking place on PPV.

However, it was always Flair winning the big one since WCW trusted him more as the top overall performer. Luger got over against Flair by having strong matches, but the feud was designed to be one-sided in favor of Flair.

6 Chris Benoit Vs Kevin Sullivan

Chris Benoit dating Kevin Sullivan’s ex-wife Woman led to WCW trying to script the reality for television. The feud between Benoit and Sullivan grew personal as they met in various forms of hardcore matches to make it feel real.

Benoit won every major match between the two since he was the younger talent and rising star for the promotion. Sullivan was on the creative team, but he even wanted to do business the right way by having Benoit win all the matches since it meant more for his career.

Giant won the first match via cheap tactics, but Hogan won way more matches in their feud. Even the later years of Hogan beating Giant for the WCW Championship as the nWo leader or when he kicked Giant out of the faction added more wins in their rivalry.

4 Vader Vs Cactus Jack

The hard-hitting matches between Vader and Cactus Jack showed an early glimpse into the hardcore wrestling style. Mick Foley loved to implement weapons, and Vader was the perfect opponent to make the violent style work.

The WCW Championship reign of Vader lasted for most of their rivalry, so he won all the important matches. Foley wasn’t viewed as a major part of WCW’s future, and it led to him being used to add to Vader’s dominant streak.

3 Goldberg Vs Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho calling out Goldberg every week provided entertaining segments, but the fans were waiting for them to have a real interaction. Goldberg was always missing from the venue or doing something else when Jericho cut the hilarious promos running him down.

The desire to get squashed by Goldberg in a match by Jericho couldn’t even come through as one segment ended the feud in one-sided fashion. Goldberg attacked Jericho during one of the promos to win the battle and never face off again until WWE.

2 Hulk Hogan Vs Ric Flair

The signing of Hulk Hogan by WCW instantly saw him entering a feud with WCW Champion Ric Flair. WCW went the opposite route of WWE when they had Flair by booking the two legendary names in a major feud.

Hogan won all the biggest matches and started his WCW Championship reign by making light work of Flair. WCW went back to the feud on a few occasions with Hogan always coming out looking stronger through each chapter.

1 New World Order Vs WCW

NWO World War 3

The biggest problem in the New World Order vs WCW feud was that it became too one-sided to even out. Fans loved the start of the nWo, but they started winning too much. Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall winning matches as the original members made sense to protect them.

However, the nWo adding too many members and their secondary talents dominating WCW for too long hurt the overall program. The infamous Souled Out 1997 PPV run by the nWo showed just how badly things could go with that mindset. That event canceled WCW’s plans to have the New World Order get their own weekly television show.
