5 Babyfaces Who Turned Heel In Romantic Angles (& Vice Versa)

Romantic storylines have been regularly featured in professional wrestling. Whether in the '80s, the current era, or anywhere in between, on-screen romances can make things interesting and help to take characters to another level. Nevertheless, not every romance in the squared circle sees a happy ending.

Betrayal and heel turns are common in such romantic storylines after they've been played out. With such a betrayal, a male Superstar or female Superstar turns into a heel. On the other hand, the exact opposite thing happens as well, where a romantic angle could give birth to a new babyface.

10 Babyface Turned Heel: Carlito (2007)

Carlito and Torrie Wilson became an on-screen couple in late 2006. When they were a couple, Carlito also formed a partnership with Ric Flair, and Torrie was in the Women's Championship picture.

After being in a relationship for over seven months, Carlito did the unthinkable. He not only dumped Torrie but also ended the relationship with the Nature Boy, cementing himself as a bad guy.

9 Heel To Babyface: Rusev (2019)

Rusev's final storyline in WWE was quite baffling. The former United States Champion had an association with his real-life from the start of his main roster career, and their marriage was acknowledged after the real wedding. While partnering with Nakamura, he was a hated heel. However, after he made his return from a hiatus, he got betrayed by the Ravishing Russian.

Lana cheated on Rusev after starting a new romance with Bobby Lashley. Once that relationship began, Rusev became a fan favorite and a good guy. Rusev and Lashley had a long feud afterward.

8 Babyface Turned Heel: Trish Stratus (2003)

Trish Stratus initiated a new romantic angle in the later stage of 2002 when she started dating Chris Jericho. They even participated in an intergender match together. Y2J, who was a babyface along with her partner, Trish, was feuding with Christian.

Jericho and Christian crossed paths at WrestleMania XX. Trish turned heel during that match, backstabbing her love interest, Jericho. Due to the betrayal, Christian managed to beat Jericho at the Grandest Stage Of Them All.

7 Heel Turned Babyface: Mandy Rose (2020)

While aligning with Sonya Deville, Mandy Rose was essentially a heel. She was mean and insulted her opponents for their looks But it all changed when she started the romantic angle with Otis in 2020. With Dolph Ziggler and Otis, it turned into a love triangle, but Rose turned a face for the first time in her main roster career.

Otis defeated Ziggler at WrestleMania 36 to finally win her lady love. They shared a kiss after the match, making it one of the iconic moments of the show.

6 Babyface Turned Heel: Candice LeRae (2020)

After signing for NXT, Candice LeRae certainly became one of the lovable babyfaces of the brand, and her husband, Johnny Gargano did the same in the men's division. Even though Gargano already became a bad guy before, Candice didn't do the same until April 2020.

When Gargano faced Tomasso Ciampa on an episode of NXT, the wife of the former, Candice, finally turned heel. She helped Gargano to beat Ciampa. After the heel turn, Candice altered her babyface look.

5 Heel Turned Babyface: Kane (2005)

As a sadistic monster, Kane formed a strange relationship with Lita. The Big Red Machine's fixation with Lita was to another extent. He not only kidnapped Lita but also claimed to be the father of her child. He later married Lita. While torturing Lita in this relationship, Kane was obviously a despicable heel. However, Lita eventually grew a soft corner for Kane.

Lita turned on her on-screen husband when Kane faced Edge on an episode of RAW. The betrayal started a feud with Edge. Kane became a babyface in that feud, while Lita and Edge were heels.

4 Babyface Turned Heel: AJ Lee (2012)

AJ Lee had a twisted and unpredictable character. In the early days of her main roster career, she formed romantic relationships with many men, and one of them was John Cena. As Cena was a good guy, AJ Lee was also a babyface during their brief relationship.

When Cena was feuding with Dolph Ziggler, they crossed paths in a Money in the Bank contract match at TLC. AJ Lee interfered in the match. Although it looked like she was there to help her partner, she turned on Cena, costing him the match. With that move, AJ Lee became a heel and aligned with Ziggler.

With Sensational Sherri as his valet, Randy Savage had a stupendous run as a bad guy. He started a rivalry with one of the biggest babyfaces of his time, The Ultimate Warrior. The two men ended up fighting at WrestleMania VII, where Savage's career was on the line.

Savage lost the bout, but Sherri turned on Savage. Seeing the assault, Miss Elizabeth came to the rescue of her husband, as she was in the audience. The incident turned Savage into a babyface once again.

2 Babyface Turned Heel: Randy Savage (1989)

Randy Savage made a famous heel turn in a romantic angle when he was part of The Mega Powers. With Miss Elizabeth as the manager, The Mega Powers had success. However, The Mega Powers finally exploded when Savage turned heel by attacking Hulk Hogan, accusing the latter of getting too fond of his wife, Miss Elizabeth.

The heel turn led to a dream match between Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage at the Showcase of Immortals. Hogan beat Savage to win the WWE Championship at WrestleMania V.

After Chyna received a massive singles push and won the Intercontinental Championship, she started a romantic angle with Eddie Guerrero. They got over a couple, as Guerrero called her 'Mamacita'.

Prior to this relationship, Chyna was a heel. But right after starting the relationship, she quickly became a fan favorite and turned into a babyface.
