Wrestling is a dangerous sport and because of that, it is truly impossible for any true long-term planning to ever be set in stone. Injuries take place on a regular basis and they can often force WWE's plans to change on the fly, with big moments being stopped and plans being scrapped because of that.

It is something that often leads to disappointment as fans get excited about angles, or even hear about the planned ideas after the fact. Knowing what could have been is always a disappointment for people as there have been some tremendous moments that have ended up not taking place.

10 Tommaso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano's Feud

Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano's rivalry was plagued by injuries throughout, which stopped it from becoming the iconic storyline it should have been. The moment that Ciampa turned on his former partner took place with him being injured, meaning it had to be paused straight out of the gate.

Meanwhile, the conclusion to the storyline was also damaged due to injury, showcasing that this was a storyline that simply felt cursed. Despite that, the two men worked hard to try and make his as entertaining as possible under the circumstances.

9 Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey

Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey had an incredible storyline and while they were able to make it to the WrestleMania main event, they never got a singles match. Originally, they were supposed to compete at Survivor Series, but an injury stopped that from happening.

Nia Jax breaking the nose of Becky is something that ended up helping her become a much bigger star. However, it also stopped the major singles match that everybody wanted to see, with this being one of the biggest matches that never happened in WWE history.

8 Finn Balor's Universal Title Reign

Finn Balor winning the Universal Championship was an incredible moment that seemed to tease a brand new main event star in wrestling. However, the fact he got injured within the match instantly brought an end to that plan.

It was a huge shame because this could have been a brilliant moment that would have taken Balor to totally new heights. Instead, it stopped him from becoming the main event player he could have been as a wrestler on WWE's main roster.

7 Brock Lesnar Attacking The Rock

During The Rock's last major match with WWE against John Cena, the People's Champion ended up suffering a major injury. He had to deal with abdominal problems during the match which threw out WWE's plans for an angle the night after on Raw.

He was supposed to be attacked by Brock Lesnar on that show which would have set up a clash at WrestleMania 30. However, due to his injury, the match was scrapped and so was the angle, which would have been huge for a post-WrestleMania episode of Monday Night Raw.

6 CM Punk Faces Kevin Nash

When Kevin Nash returned to WWE in order to attack CM Punk, it was very clear that a match between them was the plan. The company had expected to have the two of them wrestle, but that never took place due to the fact that Nash was unable to pass a medical.

While he eventually got through, the time for this match had passed. Instead, he got the chance to compete against Triple H, which was a storyline that nobody was interested in. Such a shame.

5 Mick Foley Feuds With Dean Ambrose

During Dean Ambrose's spell in FCW, he made a name for himself by cutting promos on Mick Foley. It's something that the company was planning on tapping into, with WWE hoping to have Ambrose appear on the main roster to compete with Mick.

Unfortunately, Foley had just undergone surgery on his hip and that is something that stopped him from getting into the ring. It was something that could have been special and might have introduced Ambrose in a unique manner.

4 Jason Jordan Turns On Kurt Angle

Jason Jordan being named as the son of Kurt Angle was an interesting storyline for WWE to attempt, but things didn't end up going the manner in which was originally expected. The plan was for Jordan to turn heel and go against Angle, possibly at WrestleMania.

However, because Jordan suffered a serious neck injury that ultimately ended his wrestling career, this storyline was brought to an abrupt end without any payoff. It's something that could have been huge for Jordan, but the injury stopped it all.

3 Mr. Kennedy Becoming World Champion

Mr. Kennedy is a true case of 'what if?' Him winning the Money in the Bank briefcase was supposed to take him to the next level as a professional wrestler, but after he got injured, WWE decided to switch gears and have him drop it to Edge.

Of course, the injury then only turned out to be a short one, which made the situation even more frustrating for him. Considering how his career ended up turning out, things could have been very different had that injury never happened.

2 Paige Feuds With Asuka

When Paige returned to WWE, there were a lot of expectations due to how much the women's division improved during her absence. She was set to enter a storyline with Asuka, which would have been a dream feud scenario for most fans.

However, due to her career-ending neck injury, those plans had to be scrapped completely. It's a shame as this could have been Paige's greatest ever storyline if it had actually happened.

1 Tegan Nox Wins The Mae Young Classic

Both Toni Storm and Kairi Sane went on to have terrific WWE careers after winning the Mae Young Classic, which is why Tegan Nox's injury in 2018 was so unfortunate. The Welsh star competed in the second tournament and was actually scheduled to win.

However, she suffered an injury within the tournament itself and that could have taken her to a new level as a wrestler. However, that was sadly not able to take place, and instead, her push in NXT had to wait a little longer.
