When you're a professional wrestler most of your time becomes pretty tied up. For the most part WWE Superstars work a five day week, like most of us, but it really isn't as straightforward as that. Rather than Monday to Friday, a wrestler's week usually starts on a Friday and ends on a Tuesday. They're on the road for those five days however and don't get to go home at night, most of the time, like you do in other professions. Plus part of those days off either side may very well be taken up by traveling. What I'm ultimately trying to get at here is pro wrestler's normally have very little in the way of a personal life outside of the business, which is why a lot of the time they end up in relationships with their co-workers.

Wrestling relationships often do not last, and one way or another all 20 of the partnerships that you're on the cusp of reading about have since come to an end. What this list will focus on however is what Vince McMahon thought of these 20 pro wrestling couples. Whether he thought enough of them to use them as pawns in his televised story lines, or of the boss wanted their goings-on to be hidden from the WWE Universe as much as humanly possible. Some of the choices Vince made when it came to revealing these couples to the world can seem a little random. One thing that you can be sure of though, if Mr McMahon wants to start using your real life love interest as an on-screen angle, prepare for a bumpy ride.

20 20. Flaunt: Test and Stacy Keibler

via youtube.com

Before Stephanie McMahon would become happily married to Triple H, both on screen and off of it, within the realms of WWE she had actually promised her hand in marriage to now deceased WWE Superstar, Test. It was at their live wedding ceremony that Triple H revealed he had in fact already married Stephanie at a drive-thru while she was unconscious. None of that qualifies for this list though, and it's actually who Test would date briefly in real life that makes this entry, Stacy Keibler. The former WWE Diva was the manager of Test and came up with calling the Canadian star's fans 'Testicles'. Maybe it was that ill thought out idea that led to the couple breaking up shortly after that.

19 19. Hide: Wade Barrett and Alicia Fox

via pl.wwe.com

Did you know that Alicia Fox and former WWE Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett used to date? Up until very recently I certainly didn't. Considering Vince McMahon has so far paired up Fox with about half of the 205 Live roster, you would think that the chairman would have jumped on the chance to flaunt a relationship of Alicia's that was with a fellow WWE Superstar. Not the case though, and it's not exactly clear as to why. The Foxy One is pretty quiet when it comes to her life away from the ring, maybe her and Wade kept it so well hidden that Vince didn't even know. Smart if you ask me, especially when Alicia is regularly a member of the Total Divas cast.

18 18. Flaunt: The British Bulldog and Diana Hart

via worldofwrestling.it

Younger fans among you may wonder exactly how the British Bulldog was a part of the Hart family despite them being Canadian and Davey Boy being from the UK. Well it's because Bulldog married Stu and Helen Hart's youngest daughter, Diana, making him the brother-in-law to Bret and Owen. Not only was Davey Boy's marriage to Diana flaunted by WWE in the form of making Smith a part of the on-air Hart family, but he also appeared in WWE with his wife. In 1996 a feud between him and Shawn Michaels revolved around Diana accusing HBK of hitting her, which led to Bulldog and Michaels headlining two subsequent pay-per-views together. Both matches were for the WWE Championship, a title British Bulldog would never wind up getting his hands on.

17 17. Hide: Shawn Michaels and Sunny

via youtube.com

While we're on the topic of Shawn Michaels, time to shed a little light on a period in his life that he would probably rather forget. If you only know of the returning Shawn Michaels that came back to WWE in 2002 you will likely be surprised by the man that he was before his first retirement. Shawn had not found God and was extremely difficult to work with. At one point he was involved in a relationship with WWE Diva, Sunny. Trouble is it was less of a relationship and more of an affair. Sunny was with other WWE Superstar Chris Candido at the time so needless to say it was somewhat of a scandal when the truth came out.

16 16. Flaunt: The Undertaker and Sara

via celebritytonic.com

The Undertaker has been married a few times and is currently married to former WWE Superstar Michelle McCool. It's not that relationship which lands The Deadman on this list however as it isn't really one that is particularly flaunted or hidden by Vince McMahon. Before Taker was married to Michelle he was married to a woman called Sara, as his now covered neck tattoo would suggest. The Phenom's ex-wife was actually used as the center piece of a story line between her husband and incoming WCW Superstar, Diamond Dallas Page. DDP was stalking Taker's wife and suffered the consequences of doing so when Undertaker got his hands on him at SummerSlam 2001, with Sara making frequent appearances throughout the pair's feud.

15 15. Hide: CM Punk and Maria Kanellis

via youtube.com

You'll most likely know that former WWE Superstar CM Punk is currently married to fellow former WWE Superstar AJ Lee. Much like The Undertaker and Michelle McCool that is not why we're here. A lesser known relationship of The Second City Saint is when he dated Maria Kanellis for two years a decade ago. Yes that Maria Kanellis, the one married to Mike Bennett who has recently been signed to the SmackDown Live roster. While her and Punk were both in OVW in 2005 the pair met and clearly hit it off, getting together and dating until 2007. Not a pair I would personally put with one another, and I'm sure all parties involved would agree that they have found more suited partners ten years on.

14 14. Flaunt: Matt Hardy and Lita

via wwe.com

Sorry if you're reading this Lita, but you'll be making a few appearances on this list. First up is your relationship with Matt Hardy, probably the one that the WWE Hall of Famer is most well known for. Lita became the third member of Team Extreme along with brothers Matt and Jeff Hardy and would wind up in an on screen and off screen relationship with the former of those two. It's the part of her career that Lita is most well known for and what really put her on the map in WWE. Unfortunately for Matt the part of his relationship with Lita that was flaunted the most by Vince McMahon was its demise. Lita cheated on Hardy with Edge and Vince used the real life heart break to further an angle, but more on that later.

13 13. Hide: Jerry Lawler and The Kat

via ebay.com

Jerry Lawler is not a Superstar who particularly likes fans knowing aspects of his private life, something of a rarity for a wrestler. He doesn't even broadcast who his own son is despite him being a wrestler with WWE for years during the Attitude Era (it's Grandmaster Sexay by the way). Another part of his life he made sure Vince McMahon didn't flaunt was his relationship with WWE Diva, Stacy Carter. Name not ringing a bell? You may know her as Miss Kitty, or The Kat as she later became. Towards the end of the Attitude Era Carter was released from the company by Vince and upon hearing the news Lawler said if the decision stuck then he would have to leave too. The ultimatum back fired on The King and he too had to leave WWE, but he was of course welcomed back soon after.

12 12. Flaunt: Triple H and Chyna

via reddit.com

We've already established and discussed that Stephanie McMahon was in a kayfabe relationship with former WWE Superstar Test before she got together with current husband Triple H, but The Game was in a much more real relationship before he hooked up with Steph. He and Chyna were a lot more than fellow D-Generation X members during the Attitude Era. The two of them were romantically involved. They were also  stood front and center each week on Raw when DX graced the ring, and that was no accident. Vince McMahon is and always has been a body guy, so two physical specimens like Hunter and Chyna together in a relationship? Vince was always going to flaunt them as much as he possibly could.

11 11. Hide: Billy Kidman and Torrie Wilson

via wwe.fr

The pro wrestling students among you may be ready to throw a flag on this one, but give me a second to explain myself. Billy Kidman and Torrie Wilson dated and were married for quite a long time. As you can see from the picture they did appear on television together, but most of that time was spent when the two of them were in WCW together. When in WWE the pair would team together in 2002 to take on John Cena and Dawn Marie. That was about it for them as a pair under Vince McMahon, and that match took place before the two of them had even married, so the boss hardly flaunted them to the WWE Universe. McMahon likely didn't want the male fans of the product at the time thinking Wilson was married and unavailable after she posed for Playboy magazine.

10 10. Flaunt: Marc Mero and Sable

via talesfromtheturnbuckle.com

Once again we've arrived at a former Superstar who is currently married to someone else, as you will have guessed right now it's pretty common place in the wrestling business. Former WWE Diva and Playboy model Sable is married to current Universal Champion Brock Lesnar. No matter how many times I hear about that pairing I still find it odd. Well before Sable got together with The Beast Incarnate she was romantically involved with other WWE Superstar Marc Mero. It was actually Mero who got the former Women's Champion into the business in the first place. The two would come to the ring together and a story line was spun that Marc became increasingly frustrated that the crowd were focusing on Sable rather than on him and his matches.

9 9. Hide: John Cena and Mickie James

via sportskeeda.com

John Cena is very much portrayed as a squeaky clean Superstar who can do no wrong by Vince McMahon and WWE, so naturally when the sixteen time World Champion was at the center of a bit of a scandal a while back the company didn't want word getting out. Cena was married at the time and had an affair with fellow WWE Superstar Mickie James, who was also in a relationship with Spirit Squad member Kenny Dykstra. So all round not a great situation. Pro wrestling has a little bit of a reputation for taking instances like this one and turning them into on-screen angles, but not with Big Match John. The whole thing was swept under the rug by WWE.

8 8. Flaunt: Stone Cold Steve Austin and Debra

via youtube.com

Stone Cold Steve Austin is another wrestler who is guilty of being married a fair few times over the course of his wrestling career. At one point he was married to fellow WWE talent, Debra. Their marriage came to a tricky and controversial end off screen when Debra revealed that she had been the subject of domestic abuse at the hands of Austin. Before that though the two of them were paired together on-screen due to their real life relationship. Perhaps the most famous story line they were both involved in was when Debra was forced to manage Stone Cold's upcoming opponent, The Rock. When Debra was hurt while Rock was supposed to look after her Austin snapped and got revenge on Rocky, all within the realms of WWE of course.

7 7. Hide: Alberto Del Rio and Charlotte

digitalspy.com/fightsday.com

There is almost no question that Vince McMahon would love to be able to hide the current relationship between Paige and Alberto Del Rio. Their constant drama making the headlines must be causing the chairman a bit of a headache. Well a former fling of Del Rio's that Mr McMahon also didn't want to show off to the public was his brief relationship with Charlotte Flair. In 2015 Flair divorced her husband and it freed her up to date a returning Alberto a little while later. Although the relationship itself was never used on WWE TV, apparently the feud between Paige and Charlotte was put together because of there being a little real life animosity between the pair of them over Del Rio.

6 6. Flaunt: Goldust and Terri Runnels

via wwe.com

Believe it or not younger wrestling fans, Goldust has been around for an awfully long time. Over 20 years in fact. With the early years of his WWE career taking place during the Attitude Era Goldie was naturally a lot more weirder than he is in the present day, hard to believe I know. Goldust has had a few partners in crime throughout his career such as Booker T and R-Truth, but one of the first was his real life wife Terri Runnels. As you can likely tell from the picture above Terri only embraced and enhanced the weirdness of her husband while they were paired together on-screen. Their marriage would come to a pretty sad ending though as Goldust's father Dusty would accuse Terri of being a gold digger, no pun intended, and of being unfaithful to his son.

5 5. Hide: CM Punk and Lita

via wrestlingmedia.org

Two Superstars that have already appeared on this list one time each, but here they are again. After CM Punk broke up with Maria Kanellis and before he married AJ Lee he engaged in a relationship with another wrestler, WWE Hall of Famer Lita. Unlike Punk and Maria this couple made sense. They both have the same look and likely share a lot of the same interests. You only have to see them pictured above to realize how good a couple they seemed to be together. That's why it's pretty surprising that Vince McMahon never made good use of that. If memory serves me correctly the only time they were on WWE television together was when they sat next to one another at a Hall of Fame ceremony.

4 4. Flaunt: Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth

via wwe.com

There is no couple in pro wrestling history that is more beloved than Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth. A couple both in the ring and in real life, Elizabeth truly was the first lady of wrestling. She was the focal point in the rivalry between two of the biggest names in pro wrestling history, her husband Randy and The Immortal Hulk Hogan. Savage believed The Hulkster was falling for his wife which drove a wedge between the two, known as The Mega Powers at the time. Savage would spend some time away from Elizabeth on screen and their reunification at WrestleMania VII will go down as one of the greatest moments in the event's history. People in the crowd were literally crying tears of joy.

3 3. Hide: Vickie and Eddie Guerrero

via rebloggy.com

Wrestling fans will be very familiar with both Eddie Guerrero and Vickie Guerrero separately but probably not as a pairing. To this day there are friends of mine who have only recently become wrestling fans that refuse to believe me when I tell them that Vickie and Eddie were man and wife, but indeed they were. Despite Vickie being very involved in the wrestling business she didn't really dive right in until after her husband had passed away. She made a brief foray into WWE right before Eddie died in 2005, appearing with their daughters to make a plea to Latino Heat not to reveal Rey Mysterio's big secret. Clearly Eddie's passing inspired Vickie to become more involved and help keep her late husband's legacy alive.

2 2. Flaunt: Edge and Lita

via wwe.com

This is the third and final time Lita will appear on this list, I swear. As I touched on a little earlier, Lita's relationship with Matt Hardy came to a messy end when she cheated on the Hardy Boy with fellow WWE Superstar, Edge. It actually resulted in Matt leaving the company for a while. Well Vince McMahon couldn't resist bringing Hardy back in and spinning an angle that was based on his real life heartache. McMahon showcased Edge and Lita like no couple ever before. The highlight of their flagrant flaunting came when Vince ordered the two of them to perform a live sex show in the middle of the ring live on Raw. Truly an act that proved these two caught the attention and imagination of Vince unlike any other.

1 1. Hide: Dolph Ziggler and Nikki Bella

via nicole-garcia-zozo.weebly.com

John Cena may have appeared earlier on in this list, but his new fiance Nikki Bella isn't completely innocent when it comes to her past. The former Divas' Champion also has a dating history that involves a Superstar her and John still share a WWE locker room with, Dolph Ziggler. Unlike Nikki and Cena however, Dolph and Bella's relationship was not paraded on WWE television for all to see. In fact it wasn't put to good use by WWE until after it had already ended, and then it was only for a Total Divas angle. The show had Dolph try and win Nikki back, using Cena's lack of interest in marriage and having kids as ammunition. Obviously whether there was any element of truth to the story line or not it didn't work as Nikki and Big Match John are now engaged.
