15 Age Gaps Among Wrestling Couples That Will Shock You

In virtually every place of employment, relationships are bound to happen. When people are single and they're already spending so much of their time together, it becomes only a matter of time until romantic pairs begin to blossom in the workplace. Professional wrestling, an industry that has a disproportionately high percentage of in shape and beautiful people, is no different.

Many wrestling couples involve guys and gals of similar ages. Dean Ambrose & Renee Young, for example, are both the same age. They seem to be happy and likely have no trouble relating to each other. Even the top dog of the WWE empire, Vince McMahon, is only three years older than his wife, Linda. Memories of him sucking face with Trish Stratus in front of his wife while she was a storyline vegetable is completely odd to us average people, but to their credit they're still together after all these years. A not too significant age gap had to have worked to their benefit.

However, many others find someone to date or marry that's a little younger or older. In some cases, individuals find a partner quite a lot younger and older. This is the article for those couples.

The following couples are mostly current wrestlers who have shocking age gaps between them. In spite of that hurdle, many prove that age is only a number and that happiness can be found all around. For the Matt Hardy types who found love with someone who's little younger or the Brock Lesnar types who found love with someone slightly older, it's all beautiful.

15 Maria & Mike Kanellis (3 Years)

via WWE.com

SmackDown Live's newest power couple don't have a drastic difference in age, but they are in a somewhat rare scenario in which the female of the wrestling pair is the elder. Because of her initial run in WWE, Maria is the more recognizable to the blue brand's crowd. She also is extremely confident on the microphone, which is fitting that her devoted husband decided to recently adopt her last name.

Between the older Maria and the unique last name situation, this couple formerly branded as The Bennetts stand out. They've traveled the world, competing in some of the top promotions together outside of WWE. Considering their travels, the outlook that they can thrive together in this new venture is strong. Good luck to the greatest love that possibly any us will ever know.

14 Bray Wyatt & Jojo (7 Years)

via Maxim.com

Little is know at this point about the extent of the relationship between WWE competitor Bray Wyatt & ring announcer Jojo. Wyatt's ex-wife, Samantha Rotunda, filed for divorce recently with claims that her husband had been cheating on her with Jojo. This pairing caught many fans by surprise because of how much of an odd couple they appear to be.

Images of the two arriving to WWE events together has since surfaced online, but they've not spoken openly about their involvement with each other. It's rumored that the two actually began their relationship in 2015. Considering all of the shocking details of Bray & Jojo, their 7 year age gap has been regarded as more of a non-issue compared to the rest of the drama.

13 Mickie James & Magnus (7 Years)

Heater... It's the Hoover!!!

A post shared by Mickie James (@themickiejames) on

Most of the couples on this list of wrestling couples with significant age gaps are defined by an older male, but that's not the case for Mickie James & Magnus. She's seven years older than her husband, which puts her in a slightly exclusive club with Maria Kanellis and Sable.

In September of 2014, the couple welcomed a new son into the world. The next year, the two decided to tie the knot on the romantic night of New Year's Eve.

It was in 2015 that the two got the opportunity to compete alongside each other in TNA. That was something Magnus initially resisted because he wanted to first establish himself on his own. After winning the TNA World Title, he had earned that story with his wife.

These days, Mickie is back on Raw competing in the women's division while Magnus recently returned to Impact Wrestling with the GFW Championship.

12 Triple H & Stephanie McMahon (7 Years)

via WWE.com

Triple H & Stephanie McMahon's relationship presumably began sometime around the infamous Vegas drive-thru wedding ceremony that the billion-dollar princess was too drugged up to be conscious for. Even though that taboo moment from 1999 was part of an on-screen storyline, a very real relationship blossomed behind the scenes between the two lovebirds.

They recently ended a several year reign as the televised Authority of WWE, keeping a stranglehold on all of the top storylines. After Hunter accidentally bumped his bride through a table during his non-sanctioned WrestleMania 33 match against Seth Rollins. Whoops.

The two were married on October 25th, 2003 and have three daughters together. They are the heir apparents of the empire that daddy Vince has built. The seven years age difference most likely seems inconsequential to these two considering they eat, sleep, and breathe this business together.

11 John Cena & Nikki Bella (7 Years)

via WWE.com

While Hunter & Stephanie may dominate WWE backstage, there's no bigger power couple inside the ring than John Cena & Nikki Bella. John has recently tied with Ric Flair as having the most recognized World Title reigns in history, while Nikki is the longest reigning Divas Champion. Together, they're very savvy about getting and keeping championship gold.

The two fought alongside each other at WrestleMania 33 against The Miz & Maryse, winning in front of 75,000+ fans. After their victory, John got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend, asking her to marry him. At the biggest wrestling show of the year, they officially became engaged.

The future Mr. & Mrs. John Cena have more than just their seven year age difference to shock those looking from the outside in. On the show Total Bellas, it was disclosed that Nikki had to sign a 75-page agreement before she was allowed to move in with John. Another shocking moment in their relationship happened when Cena told a young fan at the 2016 Phoenix Comicon that his favorite food was Nikki. That's definitely not PG.

10 Ricochet & Tessa Blanchard (7 Years)

via youtube.com

It's hard to find a young couple that are a hotter pair of rising stars in the wrestling world than Ricochet & Tessa Blanchard. Both will likely be among the top acts in the business in a few short years when they've finally got a proper chance in WWE.

Tessa, the daughter of Tully Blanchard and step-daughter of Magnum TA, is already announced for the upcoming Mae Young Classic. She's had a couple of NXT matches in 2016 but this 32-Woman Tournament could serve as her breakout platform. Ricochet, who was the first ever Lucha Underground Champion as Prince Puma, should become free to discuss contract negotiations by the end of 2017.

These sub-30 year old competitors will be huge stars to a mainstream audience one day, that's a guarantee. Together, they could be one of the most athletic couples WWE has ever seen.

9 CM Punk & AJ Lee (8 Years)

via youtube.com

This is the only pair on this list that aren't active in-ring competitors, yet CM Punk's name is still heard in arenas often enough to forget that they're retired. One thing they both have in common is that they left the wrestling business with way too many opportunities left on the table. They easily may never return, which is a sad thought.

One of the more heartwarming stories from this couple that married in 2014 was when Punk surprised his wife at one of her book signings. Waiting in line at an event in Chicago for her memoire, Crazy Is My Superpower, Mr. AJ Lee was overheard saying "I'm you're biggest fan!" When he finally got to the front of the line, he gave her a congratulatory hug and told her he loved her.

8 Sable & Brock Lesnar (10 Years)

via bloodyelbow.com

The current Universal Champion enjoys a more relaxed scheduled compared to most others on WWE's current roster, which is great news for his wife. One of the most recognizable stars of the Attitude Era, Sable began a relationship with Brock Lesnar before the end of her second run in Vince McMahon's company in 2004.

It was on May 6th, 2006 that the two were married. Sable has retired for good from the wrestling business, supporting her husband throughout his various career choices. The most shocking career choice had to have been his return to WWE in 2012, something few thought would've ever happened. When Brock's not showing up on Raw for his rare appearances, this couple seem to enjoy the quiet life together in Saskatchewan.

7 Matt & Reby Hardy (12 Years)

via pinterest.com

The Hardy family caught fire in 2016 when Matt embraced his Broken side, an enthralling story that consumed the entire family. Not only did his brother and long time tag partner Jeff become an integral piece in the Broken Universe but his wife, first-born son, and father-in-law also joined in on the fun. It must be true that family that Deletes together, stays together. Matt and Reby have since welcomed another baby boy into the world.

Matt & Jeff made their surprise return to WWE at WrestleMania 33, a career change that has been highly volatile from those in their past. As their former employers continue to be thorns in Matt's formely Broken side, Reby has been a firebrand for her husband. She's taken to social media numerous times to stand up for her man, showing an enthusiasm that may be thanks to her youthfulness.

6 The Rock & Lauren Hashian (13 Years)

via HollywoodUnlocked.com

The Rock is one of the biggest action stars on the planet, regularly dominating the box offices with his hit movies. He's starred in several instalments of The Fast & The Furious franchise and even lent his voice to the recent Disney cartoon, Moana. Rumors have even emerged of him possibly entering into the political arena in an upcoming election cycle, possibly laying the Smack Down from inside the oval office.

Contrasted with the bright light that's always on The Rock is his beautiful girlfiend, Lauren Hashian. This singer and mother of one of The People's Champion's children doesn't live in the public eye nearly as much as her significant other. Their age gap may be in the double digits, but she's been by his side ever since they began seeing each other in 2007.

5 The Undertaker & Michelle McCool (15 Years)

via independent.co.uk

The legendary Undertaker is best known for his historic Streak, going unbeaten in his first 21 WrestleMania matches. The first match in that series was against Jimmy Snuka at WrestleMania VII in 1991, when Michelle McCool was only 11 years old. Ninteen years later, the two officially became Mr. and Mrs. Calaway on June 26th, 2010. This was fresh off the heels of his Streak vs. Career Match against Shawn Michaels, which then put his tally up to 18-0.

Michelle was most recently at ringside for The Undertaker's presumably final WrestleMania Match against Roman Reigns. While holding their child, the icon broke character (an extremely rare action for him) to kiss his wife. He then descended into the depths of Hades or whatever happens to be below the entrance ramp as the Orlando crowd gave him a hero's farewell.

4 Alberto Del Rio & Paige (16 Years)

via metronews.ca

By far, the relationship on this list that stirs more intrigue is that of Alberto El Patron (formerly Alberto Del Rio in WWE) and Paige. Being third-generation wrestlers, they both share the fact that they come from families entrenched in the business. Their bond has survived his exit from WWE, battles for her with a Wellness Policy violation, and even rumors in late June of 2017 of a possible breakup. Despite their rocky ride, they've endured through it all.

Paige is currently working on her return to action while Alberto is a mainstay at the top of Impact Wrestling's card. The former Divas Champion has 'Alberto' as well as 'Papi' tattoed on her body, signs that regardless of what lies ahead for them, they'll face it together.

3 Hulk Hogan & Jennifer McDaniel (21 Years)

via divorcedebbie.com

Hulk Hogan is the one wrestler most synonymous with professional wrestling, yet controversy has kept him missing from action anywhere near the ring over the past couple of years. Fans of his can be comforted by the fact that WWE has been reaching out to him for a possible return lately, a stark contrast to the complete banishment he was subjected to after the Gawker scandal first broke.

Even though wrestling fans and WWE have been back and forth regarding The Hulkster in recent ages, one person who's remained firmly in his corner is his wife Jennifer McDaniel. The two began dating in 2007 and wedded in 2010. Jennifer is a whopping 21 years younger than Hulk. This may seem like a massive age differential but Mrs. Hogan is still a full 14 years older than Brooke Hogan.

2 Bret Hart & Stephanie Washington (26 Years)

via wcwworldwide.tumblr.com

Bret Hart and his third wife, Stephanie Washington, married in 2010. This came as a shock at the time as many fans had no idea that Bret separated from his second wife. On July 18th of that year, The Hitman took to Facebook to make public their impending marriage in a post that oddly ended with this line referencing their travels through a park: "How funny it was that it was me who ended up showing my beaver to her. Just kidding!"

Strange forest animal innuendos aside, Stephanie is the first spouse on this list who is the same age as one of her partner's children. Both she and Bret's oldest child were born in 1983. Even so, the two have been married for over seven years and are still going strong.

1 Jerry Lawler & Lauryn McBride (39 Years)

via everipedia.com

One of Jerry "The King" Lawler's most famous feuds involved comedian Andy Kaufman. Their rivalry produced a famous slap as well as thrown coffee on Late Night with David Letterman in 1982. All of that happened a full six years before the birth of his current girlfriend, Lauryn McBride.

Lauryn and Jerry have been an item since she was 22-years-old and they've had one major hiccup in their history. In June of 2016, these two were both taken into custody after a domestic dispute. They both accused each other of physical assault and there were claims that a gun was put on a table by Jerry. He was also accused of telling her to kill herself with it.

Lawler was put on suspension by WWE after the incident, which was lifted shortly afterward when the charges were dropped. The two are still an item to this day and have seen no disturbances since.
