Every wrestler employed by WWE wants to be involved at WrestleMania each year in some capacity. Of course, talent want to be part of the big matches, in featured spots and main events, but that isn't possible for everyone. However, wrestlers always want to have some type of role within the card.

However, that is not always the case. Of course, some wrestlers miss out on shows due to injuries, which will be the case every year, there are times when WWE opts to leave a talent out simply down to creative decisions, meaning healthy talent can lose out on a spot.

10 Charlotte Flair (WrestleMania 37)

Charlotte Flair has been one of the biggest names in WWE from the moment she joined the main roster. Therefore, her not being part of WrestleMania 37 felt very odd. The Queen revealed she was taken out of plans because she got COVID-19 during the build-up, but by the time the show rolled around, she was healthy.

This is why audiences were surprised that she didn't end up being involved in some manner. Considering her talent and star power, WWE could easily have slotted her into some way, but instead, she was left off the card entirely.

9 Roman Reigns (WrestleMania 36)

WrestleMania 36 was a unique show due to the COVID-19 pandemic happening. This meant that a big missing element were the fans. However, WWE's biggest star was also not involved, as Roman Reigns had no part to play in the show, despite the fact he was healthy enough to do so.

He had been advertised to face Goldberg, but the Tribal Chief himself backed out. This was down to health concerns, with Roman opting to stay at home and isolate. It was a decision he made, choosing to look after himself and his family above competing, which is never a bad choice.

Dolph Ziggler has been a consistent force within the wrestling world from the moment he began appearing on the main roster. While he has only ever had one singles match at WrestleMania, he has always landed in some type of role. From tag team bouts to multi-man ladder matches, he's often had a place on the card.

However, that wasn't the case at WrestleMania 35, despite the fact he was healthy at the time. WWE kept him off the card completely, not even giving him the chance to work a pre-show battle royal. It was an odd decision to not have him involved at all, but it as ultimately the choice the company went with.

7 Samoa Joe (WrestleMania 33)

WWE decided to have Samoa Joe debut on the main roster just before WrestleMania, ambushing Seth Rollins to help Triple H during that feud. After that, fans thought he would absolutely be involved somehow, even if it was just having a run-in during that particular encounter.

However, despite being completely healthy and fresh on the main roster, WWE didn't use Joe at all. The former NXT Champion could have been used easily on this card, as he had a lot of buzz surrounding him. Therefore, the decision to not feature him felt like an odd one.

6 Goldust (WrestleMania 28)

Goldust was working at a strong level heading into WrestleMania 28, and he had zero injury concerns. He had been publicly pushing on social media that he wanted to work a match against his brother that year for the Intercontinental Championship. However, Cody Rhodes wound up facing the Big Show.

Meanwhile, Goldust was left watching the show as a fan. The wrestling veteran was somebody that could have added a lot to the card, and a match against his own brother would have been intriguing if it had been given the chance.

One year later it was Cody Rhodes himself that ended up missing out on WrestleMania, despite the fact he was healthy. Cody was actually booked on the show, as Team Rhodes Scholars and The Bella Twins were set to compete against Tons Of Funk and the Funkadactlys.

However, because of time constraints, the match ended up being pulled. Because of that, everyone involved ended up missing out on getting the chance to compete on The Grandest Stage Of Them All. It was something that even ended up being covered on Total Divas, showcasing the emotion they all had in that moment.

He was scheduled to compete against The Berzerker on the show, but when things overran, they ended up being cut. It was still surprising considering the fact that Davey Boy Smith was a well-known name by this point and a genuine draw. He's someone that fans would have wanted to see compete, and was working at a top-level during this time.

Great wrestlers being left off a WrestleMania card is something that has happened from the very beginning. Don Muraco was a star in this period, and someone who would have added to the card, as he had plenty of fans. He didn't end up being used, which was an odd choice at that point.

Muraco was a fantastic heel who could easily have put together a great storyline with somebody. For some reason, the company opted to keep him off the card, and Muraco missed out on the historic event entirely.

2 Big Show (WrestleMania 18)

Big Show will go down as one of the biggest names of all time, and considering his size, he was a genuine attraction for WWE to book. However, at WrestleMania 18 the company left him off the card, with this being a low point of his career. WWE had stopped using him at this point.

He was having to work hard to push to the top of the card, but things were not working right for him here. Show did have a slight role on the night, but it was not in the arena. Instead, Big Show appeared at the New York restaurant, watching the event with other fans.

1 Matt Hardy (WrestleMania 20)

WrestleMania 20 was a stacked show that featured a lot of great talents, but Matt Hardy was not one of them. At this point, his V.1 character was starting to become stale, and wasn't firing on all cylinders as it had done before. Because of that, WWE opted to not book him.

He'd been involved in the cruiserweight division prior to that, but it was on SmackDown. Hardy had recently been drafted to Raw, which meant he couldn't be part of that on the show.
