We all remember our ‘glory days’ of high school, don’t we? They were the days we thought we were so cool and everybody else was so lame. Then, looking back on it, we realize just how lame EVERYBODY was. We weren’t quite as cool as we thought and we wish we could go back in time and tell our teenage versions what to do.
All the WWE Superstars today have a unique look and talent. There is a reason they have all made it to the WWE. Hard work and talent has brought each and every one of these wrestlers to where they are now. Some of them champions, others fighting for that number one spot. It’s hard to believe that just a few years ago some of these superstars were just graduating high school. We often forget that they all were not once actors or models, and some of them are even unrecognizable.
Hours in the gym, makeup, and new hairstyles sure can fool you. Here we look at 15 current WWE superstars and what they looked like in high school. Let’s see who hasn’t changed, and the ones who got complete makeovers. From the guys and the girls, we are sure you will find some of them cute and most of them funny.
15. Bray Wyatt
Real name Windham Lawrence Rotunda, is a former WWE tag team champion and a former WWE Champion. He was born in Brooksville, Florida and is a third-generation professional wrestler. He used different wrestling names from 2009-2012, being remembered most for being a member of “The Nexus”. In 2011, he was re-branded as Bray Wyatt, a cult leader of The Wyatt Family. The former football player and state wrestling champion graduated high school in 2005.
This photo here of Bray looks more like a mugshot than a typical high school photo, but with the grizzly beard he is certainly still recognizable. Wyatt would play a little football in his day, but no one thought he’d be portraying a cult leader like character all these years later.
14. Kofi Kingston
Real name Kofi Nahaje Sarkodie-Mensah is a Ghanaian-American wrestler for the WWE. He is a member of the New Day with Big E and Xavier Woods. He was born in Kumasi Ashanti Ghana and now resides in Tampa, Florida. He has won 13 championships with the WWE. He is a four-time WWE Intercontinental Champion, three-time WWE United States Champion, and six-time WWE Tag Team Champion.
The close friend of former wrestler CM Punk, is married and has five children. His high school photo is very recognizable as the 36-year-old has not aged a bit. He still has the same handsome face, just different hair. You could definitely tell that there’s a future member of The New Day somewhere in there. The innocence has definitely always been there with Kofi.
Here, we come to the French Canadian professional wrestler and playboy model who is the manager to The Miz on Raw, her real-life husband. The 34-year-old has been with the WWE since 2006 after competing in the Diva Search, which is where she met her husband Mike better known as The Miz. The beautiful diva and model has always been stunning, her high school photo proves just that. She has a natural beauty to her and even with darker hair, it is very clear that that was Maryse. Maryse has played her role beautifully since making her return in 2016 but looking back on this photo it’s hard to tell it’s the same person. Yes, she still has a confident look on her face, but her platinum blonde hair is not there and she looks a little less concerned about her on-camera looks.
12. Roman Reigns
Leati Joseph Anoa’i better known as Roman Reigns in the WWE. He was signed in 2010 and made his main roster debut in 2012. He was born in Pensacola, Florida and is a member of the Anoa’i family. At 6’3†and 265lb it is no wonder he used to play football in both high school and college. He is half Samaoan and half Italian. His cousins are former wrestlers Yokozuna, Rikishi, Umaga, and The Tonga Kid. As well as The Uso’s and The Rock. Both his father and brother were professional wrestlers, before they passed away. So, it’s no surprise that Roman himself got involved with wrestling and is with the WWE today. At 32 years old, Roman Reigns looks just as handsome today. He has quite the female following and is one of the biggest stars in the WWE today.
11. Seth Rollins (And Alexa Bliss)
Colby Daniel Lopez better known as Seth Rollins signed to the WWE in 2010. His debut on the main roster was in 2012 with Dean Ambose and Roman Reigns, better known as The Shield. He is a two-time WWE World Heavy Weight Champion, a United States Champion, and WWE Tag Team Champion. He won the 2014 Money in the Bank and was named Superstar of the Year in 2015. That’s quite a list for such a young superstar who is now 31 years old. The straight-edge teen who was born and raised in Buffalo, Iowa sure has come a long way. With his long hair, and baby face we can see how this teenager has become a superstar.
Pamela Rose Martinez, better known as Bayley within the WWE was born in Newark, California but now resides in Orlando, Florida. Since the young age off 11 years old Bayley has attended wrestling shows in California, and at the age of 18 she was already training to become a wrestler. In December of 2012 she signed with the WWE and in January of 2013 is when she made her debut for NXT at a live event. The pretty superstar is only 28 years old, and even ten years later she still looks the same.
9. Randy Orton
Randall Keith Orton is both a professional wrestler with the WWE as well as an actor. He is a 13-time World Champion and has held the WWE Championship nine times. He held the WWE World Heavyweight Championship four times (the youngest wrestler to hold this title) and was the final holder of the World Heavy Weight Championship. The third-generation wrestler has been wrestling at an early age where he began training first in Mid-Missouri Wrestling Association for a month before being sent to Ohio Valley Wrestling. Born in Knoxville, Tennessee his father Bob Orton Jr tried to warn him of the tough life being a wrestler meant, but that couldn’t keep him away.
8. The Big Show
Paul Donald Wight II known as the Big Show and The Giant is a seven-time World Champion among many other championships he has won throughout his career. He stands at 7’0″ tall and weighs 383 pounds. He was born in South Carolina and now resides in Tampa, Florida. At the age of twelve he was already 6’2″ tall. Just like Andre the Giant, The Big Show used to have a disease of the endocrine system called acromegaly. In the early 90s he underwent a surgery which halted the progress of his condition and was successful.
7. Big Cass
William Morrissey who wrestles under the name Big Cass, a modification to his prior wrestling name Colin Cassady is from Queens, New York. He now resides in Orlando, Florida and has been with the WWE since 2011. At the young age of 30, Big Cass sure has changed since his high school days. We are sure he is the envy of all his former classmates, dating fellow WWE Superstar Carmella. In this photo, Cass is still portraying a bit of an intense look that he shows on a regular basis in WWE but you certainly can’t tell it’s the same man who will one day grow to be seven feet tall. No one in high school taught him that! And apparently no one taught him the blue bow tie looks odd.
6. Jeff Hardy
Jeffrey Nero Hardy, one half of The Hardy Boyz tag team alongside his brother Matt Hardy is a professional wrestler who has recently made his way back to the WWE. Born in North Carolina, Jeff has been famous for his participation in tables, ladders, and chairs matches. He is a six-time World Champion, and his bout with TNA Wrestling landed him the TNA World Heavyweight Championship three times. We must say, the former football player and motor cross rider looks pretty much the same since his high school days where he started with hair dye, minus the piercings and tattoos. You can sort of tell he has that daredevil type look but no one could have pictured what kind of stunts he would pull in his adult life.
5. Charlotte Flair
Ashley Elizabeth Fliehr who performs under the ring name Charlotte Flair is a second-generation wrestler, the daughter of Hall of Famer Ric Flair. She was born in Charlotte, North Carolina and in 2012 she began wrestling training with the WWE. She made her NXT debut in 2013 and by 2014 she was already the NXT Women’s Champion. Prior to her career in wrestling, she was a personal trainer. In high school, she was a state champion and team captain of her volleyball team. Charlotte Flair sure has come a long way at such a young age. She has matured into an even more beautiful woman. She never thought she would get into wrestling, and she has even admitted she didn’t watch all that much growing up.
4. The Miz
Michael Gregory Mizanin known as The Miz was born in Parma, Ohio. He currently resides in Los Angeles, California with his beautiful wife Maryse Quellet. His first start at fame began on the reality television show, MTV’s The Real World: Back to New York in 2001. In 2004, he was the first runner up for the fourth season of WWE’s reality show Tough Enough. In 2006, he hosted the WWE Diva Search and that is where he met his wife Maryse. The Miz sure has come a long way since high school, we aren’t sure he would stand a chance getting Maryse’s attention back then but we think he is pretty awesome now! Whoever made fun of that kid in high school is probably regretting it now.
3. Alexa Bliss
Alexis Kaufman, the current WWE Women’s Champion known as Alexa Bliss was born in Columbus, Ohio. She now resides in Orlando, Florida where she was assigned to train in 2013 when she signed with the WWE. The former softball, track, kick-boxing, and gymnastics star is no stranger to sports. After high school, she joined her college cheerleading team and later competed in bodybuilding making it to the Arnold Classic. At the age of 26, Alexa Bliss still looks the same and just as cute as she did in high school. Bliss claims that bodybuilding saves her life, as she had suffered from an eating disorder that she claimed was life threatening before finding nutrition and fitness.
2. Finn Balor
Fergal Devitt, an Irish wrestler born in Ireland, now resides in Orlando, Florida and goes by the name of Finn Balor. He is widely known as Prince Devitt where he wrestled in New Japan Pro Wrestling for an extensive amount of time. He was three-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and six-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion. After signing with the WWE, he became the quickest wrestler in WWE history to win a world title, in just 27 days of his debut he became WWE Universal Champion. Before becoming a professional wrestler, Finn played football and has a first-degree black belt in submission wrestling. In high school Finn was cute, but we wouldn’t recognize him to be Finn Balor the Irish superstar of the WWE.
1. John Cena
Last but not least, John Felix Anthony Cena started his wrestling career in 1999. In 2001, he signed with the WWE and he has been a superstar with them ever since. Born in Massachusetts, John now resides in Tampa, Florida with his fiancée fellow WWE superstar Nikki Bella. He is known as the “most polarizing wrestler of all time” as stated by former commentator Jim Ross. For over ten years he was WWE’s franchise player, everyone called him the “Greatest WWE Superstar of all time”. To back that title up, he has won a whopping 25 championships, and headlined five different WrestleMania’s Aside from wrestling he has been involved in numerous television shows, movies, and most notably known for granting the most wishes in the history of Make-A-Wish foundation.
The catholic school graduate later received his degree in exercise physiology and pursued a career in bodybuilding. Even though John looks so young in this picture, we can still see the star in him. There’s nothing that John Cena can’t do, and he has proved that even today by learning Mandarin Chinese just to be able to communicate and help WWE reach to more of their fans. John Cena is simply just successful at everything he does.
