Veteran WWE superstar Kevin Owens is still working with Seth Rollins, but the two former Universal Champions will presumably part ways very soon.

As previously noted, WWE is reportedly trying to bring back Hall of Famer 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin for a match at WrestleMania 38. This year's show will be held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington Texas, Austin's home state, on the Apr. 2-3 weekend. Owens is reportedly the front-runner to challenge The Texas Rattlesnake at WrestleMania.

A marquee match like Austin vs. Owens would require valuable buildup. When can WWE fans expect that to begin, if Austin is indeed planning an in-ring return?

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t GiveMeSport), Dave Meltzer suggested that WWE will finish up the Owens-Rollins partnership storyline before The Prized Fighter enters his program with Austin. Owens and The Architect defeated RK-Bro for the second time in three weeks on this week's edition of WWE Raw.

"They didn’t go too hard tonight," Meltzer said. "I mean, it was there, but I guess because they’ve got the tag team thing that they’ve got to get to first before they get to the Owens – Austin thing."

Owens recently teased a dream match with Austin. WWE reportedly reached out to the Hall of Famer over a possible return to the ring several weeks ago, but it's unclear at this time if Austin is indeed keen on returning to wrestling. His final match took place 19 years ago at WrestleMania 19, where Austin fell to The Rock.

Regarding WrestleMania season, it's unclear what WWE's plans may be for Rollins. He looked like a candidate to compete in the WWE Championship match, but WWE has decided to run a champion vs. champion match between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns for the WrestleMania main event.

Four Confirmed WrestleMania 38 Matches

So far, there are four announced matches on the card for WrestleMania 38: Lesnar vs. Reigns, Bianca Belair vs. Becky Lynch for the Raw Women's Championship, Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women's Championship and Rey and Dominik Mysterio vs. The Miz and YouTube star Logan Paul.
