WWE's stacked roster following the brand split added a lot of excitement for WrestleMania 33. Both Raw and SmackDown Live have a plethora of great wrestlers that could deliver special performances on the biggest stage of them all. However, rumors have been for potential leaking matches for the big show over the past few months. Almost all of the WrestleMania season rumors have proven to be true, from Randy Orton winning the Royal Rumble to Bray Wyatt winning his first WWE Championship. The dominos are still to fall, but we have a good idea of what the WrestleMania main events will be along with other rumored matches to round out the card.

Most of the information for the event is not providing optimism. Quite frankly, this show on paper could be one of the worst WrestleMania events unless something changes. It'll more than likely not go down with the memorable WrestleMania shows in the history of the company. We'll break down the negatives about the rumored card here. These are fifteen reasons why WrestleMania 33 will unfortunately be a bad show.

15 15. Seth Rollins Injury

via fansided.com

Seth Rollins suffering an injury at the hands of Samoa Joe could potentially ruin one of the few good attraction matches rumored for WrestleMania 33. The long awaited match between Rollins and Triple H is still expected to happen at this year’s huge event, but the knee injury has Rollins in question. If his rehab doesn’t go well, the match will likely get canceled.

Even if Rollins is cleared, he'll be pushing it with his injury timetable suggesting the best case is him returning to action the week of WrestleMania. Rollins will be wrestling his first match since the injury and could have ring rust. The potential best attraction match on the card now has doubt that will negatively affect it either way, unless Rollins pulls a rabbit out of his hat.

14 14. Potential Hulk Hogan Return

via inquisitr.com

Various insiders have started to discuss the potential of Hulk Hogan making his return to WWE at WrestleMania 33. Hogan lives in Orlando and it would be fitting for him to appear there after being exiled from the company less than two years ago. An offensive racial tirade from Hogan released in his sex tape leak caused WWE to fire him from his legend’s contract.

Hogan returning would make some of his old fans happy, but it would be a terrible thing in the short term. The entrance of Hogan is always fun to witness. After that, he turns into a joke, trying to remember his lines and not make mistakes like he did at WrestleMania XXX, where he forgot the name of the venue. WWE pushes diversity and many fans feel uncomfortable at the event given Hogan’s words.

13 13. Kurt Angle Not Wrestling

via youtube.com

One person fans would want to see return to the ring is Kurt Angle. WWE finally welcomed him back into the family this year with an upcoming induction into the Hall of Fame at WrestleMania weekend. Angle will be honored for his contributions to the industry with the induction at the event. However, WWE will not have him wrestle at WrestleMania 33 with the HOF being his main role for the weekend.

Angle will appear on the stage at the very least as part of the Hall of Fame class. The problem is fans will want to see him in the ring one more time and WrestleMania is the stage for it. Angle is a rare legend that could actually contribute in a way that helps the full-time roster. His passion and genuine love for wrestling makes Angle someone we want to see return and WWE is making a mistake by not allowing it at WM.

12 12. Long Show

via youtube.com

One of the biggest issues with WrestleMania 32 last year was the length of the show. The kick-off show lasted two hours with matches taking place in front of a half-empty stadium. It would drag on even longer with the main card lasting almost five hours. Expect that to continue this year with the brand split creating double the amount of feuds, as Raw and SmackDown are different programs.

The expected card would see 12+ matches be announced for WrestleMania. WWE having the WWE Network to air the show without restraints and their drawing power of the event will give them the freedom to go as long as they want. WrestleMania 33 could very well go down as the longest show in WWE history.

11 11. Part-Timers Squeezing Out Good Workers

via blogspot.com

The constant issue of part-timers returning at WrestleMania will continue this year. Goldberg’s success adds him to the list of The Undertaker, Triple H and Brock Lesnar making rare appearances at the show. That many wrestlers getting spots on the card means the current full-time workers will struggle to find a place on the show outside of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

Talented guys like Sami Zayn, Rusev and Dolph Ziggler are more than likely going to be relegated to the battle royal. The part-timers are fun to watch, but they often fail to deliver memorable performances aside from offering some feelings of nostalgia. In terms of good matches, the current dynamic makes it difficult to deliver great matches with older performers relying on name value.

10 10. Owens & Jericho Becoming Undercard Match

via youtube.com

Kevin Owens turning on Chris Jericho to end their friendship was one of the best WWE segments in quite some time. Jericho made you feel for him in the heartbreaking situation and Owens reminded you how ruthless of a villain he could be. The story should make the eventual match between the two of them among the more heavily pushed bouts at WrestleMania 33.

Unfortunately, the major four-to-five matches look to be already set in stone with the names WWE values more than Owens and Jericho. The emotional match between two tremendous wrestlers will likely be forced into the mid-card or undercard. Owens is expected to lose the WWE Universal Championship to Goldberg before WrestleMania. Even if he holds on to it, past history has shown WWE will treat the title as secondary to the bigger, older names.

9 9. Lackluster SmackDown Title Match

via inquisitr.com

SmackDown Live has done a tremendous job with their writing, but their scheduled WWE Championship match is a huge disappointment. Randy Orton winning the Royal Rumble was the least inspiring choice possible. It was done to set up a World Title match between Orton and new WWE Champion Bray Wyatt. The story between the two has been going on since September and you have to believe the writing will give them good content leading up to the big match.

Orton and Wyatt both lack a track record of delivering in big matches and that could spell doom when they have to finish up their program with a great bout. Orton has had numerous disappointments in upper echelon WrestleMania matches. Wyatt had a couple of mediocre outings against The Undertaker and John Cena at past events. The safe money is on the match being lackluster and harming the show.

8 8. WWE Likely Waiting On Finn Balor Return

via twitter.com

Finn Balor is still rehabbing with the hopes of returning to WWE in time for WrestleMania 33. The main matches for Raw are already being set up now. That puts Balor on the outside with the company keeping him on the bench until after WrestleMania 33. Cesaro saw the same fate last year. Despite being cleared in time for WrestleMania 32, WWE waited for the following night to bring him back.

Balor sadly doesn’t appear to fit in the plans for any top WrestleMania match. WWE should put him back on screen shortly after the event, but that will just make it even more heartbreaking to see him miss the huge event. It would be the first WrestleMania appearance for Balor at the height of his career. The card being floated around is making it clear Balor will have to wait another year for this goal to be reached.

7 7. No Shinsuke Nakamura

via wwe.com

Many fans would argue Shinsuke Nakamura is the most charismatic performer in WWE. Nakamura may not be on Raw or SmackDown Live, but he finds his star power growing in NXT as the face of the brand. His theatrics and charisma makes him the perfect wrestler for a show like WrestleMania. His epic entrance would likely be the highlight of the show.

The unfortunate timing makes it likely Nakamura will remain in NXT during WrestleMania weekend. Nakamura is in none of the rumored WrestleMania matches and is still involved in NXT feuding with Bobby Roode. There has also been talk of Nakamura facing the returning Kassius Ohno (Chris Hero) at NXT TakeOver: Orlando the night before WrestleMania 33. Nakamura may debut during the week of shows after WM, but we are going to miss him on the actual show.

6 6. Limited Matches For Women & Tag Teams

via wwe.com

The matches announced, rumored or clearly being set up by WWE show that we'll have a long show with a deep card. Most of the matches will be singles bouts with the top stars and outside attractions facing off. That makes it less likely the tag team divisions and women’s divisions will have more than one match for each brand on the card.

The Raw Women’s Championship match is scheduled to be Sasha Banks vs. Bayley vs. Nia Jax vs. Charlotte Flair. We'll likely also see multiple challengers in the matches for the SmackDown Women’s Champion, Raw Tag Team Championships and SmackDown Tag Team Championships. The options will be fitting too many people into these important matches or many talented performers being left off the card.

5 5. Goldberg Vs. Brock Lesnar

via wwe.com

The shocking moment of Goldberg decimating Brock Lesnar in 86 seconds at Survivor Series was great. Goldberg has reportedly signed a deal that will end at WrestleMania 33. The legend is already promoting question and answer shows in the United Kingdom weeks after his potential showdown with Brock. Goldberg is most likely going to return the favor to give Lesnar the win.

No scenario with Brock has a clear path to a productive result. A match lasting any longer than a few minutes is going to be a disaster. Goldberg couldn’t go longer than five minutes in his prime and now he’s 50. Lesnar winning the match in short form is less entertaining than Goldberg doing it as a face. This will be viewed as the main event of the show to many fans and disappointment will follow.

4 4. A.J. Styles Being Wasted On Shane McMahon

via pwmania.com

A.J. Styles beginning to rant about the leadership of Shane McMahon is definitely setting up a rumored match between the two at WrestleMania 33. Styles' success has made him the best in-ring performer in WWE and the high point of SmackDown Live. It will be a huge waste to have Styles face a limited opponent like Shane on the biggest show of the year.

McMahon is a fun performer that will always deliver a great stunt or two. The options of Dean Ambrose or Baron Corbin would have better for Shane. Styles needs an opponent that can keep up with him and deliver a classic match on the biggest stage. It will be a huge mistake if WWE goes through with the planned Styles/McMahon match towards the top of the SmackDown side of the card.

3 3. Cena Match Wasted

via sportskeeda.com

There is no argument that John Cena is still the biggest star on the WWE roster. However, WrestleMania 33 will see him move down the card if the shocking rumored match goes as planned. Cena would team up with girlfriend Nikki Bella to face off against The Miz and Maryse in a mixed tag match. That’s right. Cena is going to be in the same match as Maryse.

Rumors are swirling that Nikki will be leaving WWE after WrestleMania 33 and the couple wants to end her career together. Some theories state Cena will propose at the end of the match. Nothing will make up for such a pointless match option for an iconic star in one of his final prime WrestleMania matches.

2 2. Overpushing of Roman Reigns

via inquisitr.com

Everyone expected The Undertaker to face John Cena at WrestleMania 33 for over a year. Cena’s injury last year canceled the match at WrestleMania 32. It was meant to finally happen this year, but plans changed right around the time of the Royal Rumble. Vince McMahon reportedly swapped Cena out to put Roman Reigns in the match against The Undertaker.

Reigns and The Undertaker had an intense stare down in the Royal Rumble match after Reigns eliminated The Undertaker. This was obviously to set up the rumored match. McMahon wants Reigns to benefit from one of The Undertaker’s final matches instead of going with the legend vs. legend route with Cena. It'll be the third consecutive year that WrestleMania will be centered on the story of Reigns overcoming an icon to prove he’s “the guy.”

1 1. Missed Opportunity With The Undertaker Match

via wrestlingitalia.it

The worst thing about the match between Roman Reigns and The Undertaker is it will erase the chances of a true dream match. John Cena is one of the few WWE legends of the era that has never faced The Undertaker at a WrestleMania show. Both Cena and The Undertaker moving down into less exciting matchups makes it even worse that they won’t be facing each other.

Unless one or both matches significantly over-deliver, we'll be looking at a huge missed opportunity in the history of wrestling. WrestleMania 33 will likely be remembered as the time WWE passed on a truly special match for disappointing alternatives. There are many reasons to be down on the rumored WrestleMania card. A no-brainer being thrown away could be the biggest error in recent WrestleMania history.
